5 Beauty Products I'd Recommend to My Mother

As a teen I'd rely on my Mother for beauty advice: from setting my make up with powder to daily SPF habits bestowed upon me - it is safe to say, I have a very clued up Momma. That being said, she is nowhere near as experimental with brands or new products for that matter as myself and sisters. I often feel like she is missing out on so many great, innovative beauty launches, purely down to loyalty. Forget fads, here are five classic beauty products I think everyone should try out sooner or later, regardless if you gave birth to me or not.

Hourglass Arch Brow Sculpting Pencil £26 via Space.NK - link
I'm not the best at filling in my brows and if I am entirely honest it is my least favourite step of my beauty routine and yes, that includes waxing. The only product that has ever made me feel confident not only about my eyebrows but brow filling technique is Hourglass Arch Brow Sculpting Pencil. This is so much more than your average brow pencil - as a matter of a fact, Hourglass Arch Brow is a wax-come-powder hybrid that glides on to the skin effortlessly providing a long wearing yet utterly natural finish. If ever a brow product was fool proof it is this, not to mention the shade selection is both expansive and convincingly real one applied. Yes at £26 you'd be forgiven for shedding a tear when handing over your hard earned cash but rest assure this pencil will last you for years.

Clinique Even Better Dark Spot Defense SPF45 £26/30ml via Debenhams - link
My Mother is no stranger to SPF but tends to stock up on non-tinted and perhaps more budget friendly brands such as Nivea. Not that there is anything at all wrong with this, heck I use Nivea SPF and skin care fairly regularly but I do tend to splurge on facial SPF. This is not down to snobbery but rather due to innovation and texture. In my experience the higher end facial SPF options tend to have a lighter, more comfortable consistency - not to mention more often than not are non-greasy. One daily SPF that ticks all of the above boxes is Clinique Even Better Dark Spot Defense SPF45. it applies beautifully thanks to its super breathable formulation, gently brightens and evens out the skin tone, and along with protecting against UV rays. It can not only prevent age spots from appearing but fade any existing hyper-pigmentation. One bottle, used daily easily lasts me for up to 2 months - averaging at under fifty pence per application.

Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturiser SPF20 £27.20/50ml via Feel Unique - link
Until Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturiser SPF20 I was not entirely sold on the notion; more often than not a tinted moisturiser would overwhelm my already excessively oily skin and offer next to no coverage. Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturiser SPF20 gently covers most imperfections from redness to minor blemishes, imparts a gentle glow, nourishes (particularly so in the colder months) all the while appearing entirely subtle and dare I say natural in finish. Application is a breeze as the light texture melts into the skin upon contact and blends out seamlessly. It is your skin but better and will change how you feel about tinted moisturiser forever.

Pai Rosehip BioRegenerate Oil £22/30ml via Look Fantastic - link
Admittedly this is only my first ever bottle of Pai Rosehip BioRegenerate Oil but as you can see I have all but drained it and my skin laps up the golden nectar. I am a fan of most Rosehip facial oils but as far as I am concerned Pai Rosehip BioRegenerate Oil is the one to beat. The super concentrated formulation means you only need to apply a little daily (I apply at night), to reap the skin boosting, repairing and regenerating benefits. If only I could convince my Mother to down her beloved bottle of Olay for one night...or at least combine her moisturiser with Rosehip Oil. For those interested, I have recently wrote a full review of Pai Rosehip BioRegenerate Oil here.

L'Occitane Almond Shower Oil £18/250ml via John Lewis - link.
I always say you haven't lived until you have experienced L'Occitane Almond Shower Oil. It is beyond heavenly and I order it repeatedly. As you may have imagined, L'Occitane Almond Shower Oil is a sweet and of course Almond scented, silky cleansing oil that gently foams once combined with water to provide the softest skin imaginable and all without the need for a body moisturiser. Admittedly my Mother does enjoy this shower oil, just not enough to purchase her own and stop using my bottle. The injustice is real.

What products would you recommend to your Mother, or in fact anyone who is stuck in their ways with their beauty routine? I'm all ears and may just have a pencil and pad ready for a few suggestions.
