Beauty Blender Pure

A Beauty Blender for skin care application may seem a little bizarre but as someone with easily irritated and acne prone skin, I'm of the mind frame that trying something once can't possible hurt. Admittedly at £16 had this not worked out in my favour this wouldn't have been my wisest decision but as I love and swear by the Original Beauty Blender, it was a risk I was willing to take.

So yes, if you haven't already guessed by now the Beauty Blender Pure is a soft, white in colour, tapered sponge that has been designed for application of skin care. Much like the Original Beauty Blender it is suggested that you dampen the sponge but running under, tepid water for a few moments and then squeezing out any excess. By doing so, you allow the sponge to expand to its full capacity and in theory you should use less skin care - the damp, full sponge (an open cell structure if you are feeling fancy), won't absorb product, rather it sits on the top of the sponge ready to be applied. I've never really thought of how much moisturiser etc I loose due to my hands absorbing it, my guess is very little but it is food for thought.

While in Sephora (don't worry this is also available within the UK), I did think this sounds a little too gimmicky to be true and to an extent that is still my feelings. However when my skin is in the midst of a particularly bad break out, I will reach for the Beauty Blender Pure. Why? Well it allows for precise application (one end is tapered for this purpose, the other rounder/wider for larger areas) and in theory, should prevent the spread of blemish causing bacteria, other than that I am more than happy using my finger tips and not having another sponge that needs sterilised at the end of the day.

TLDR; the damp sponge does prevent excessive product absorption, the tapered tip allows you to precisely apply products and of course prevent the spread of bacteria. Not as gimmicky as you'd imagine but it is a step/tool that most could happily forgo - I mean we've managed to apply skin care for decades without it.
