Last night I was clearing out my handbag and suddenly a wave of smug, satisfaction took over. You see somewhere in the last week or so, I had remembered to pick up a new stick of my beloved Rimmel Scandal Eyes Kohl Liner in Nude. My holy grail of eye brightening liners and a product that I hate to be without. It's soft, creamy, long wearing and waterproof - what more could you ask for? Isn't it funny how something so little (and inexpensive) can not only brighten up my eyes but also my day. Then I got to thinking, a lot of my favourite products are easily found on the high street and cost less than £5.
For instance, when my lips are chapped and weather beaten I turn to Carmex Medicated Lip Balm and have done for years. I've lost count to how many little yellow tins I have completed over the years and do have a tendency to thrust it upon others in their moment of need. I also swear by Maybelline the Matte Maker Pressed Powder, a fairly light in coverage, pressed powder that absorbs excess oil without leaving my face caked in powder. I refuse to lug around a pricey, pressed powder compact as sooner or later they all end up breaking in my bag anyway.
Maybelline may be infamous for continually launching new product lines but much like Carmex I can't begin to tell you, how many bottles of Maybelline Great Lash Mascara I have used, lost and gave away to a friend in need. The iconic green and pink bottle will always have a place in my heart and make up bag. Yes it is a very simple mascara but if all you want is a little definition, length and volume, all without clumps and a hefty price tag, you could go far worse than purchasing a tube. Apparently it is many a make up artists favourite for this very reason.
My last budget beauty steal is Boots Natural Collection Eyeshadow in Milk Chocolate, despite its teeny £1.99 price tag this has turned out to be my most used eyeshadow ever. A matte, warm and slightly ruddy toned brown eyeshadow that really brings out the blue in my eyes, and can double up as a great transitional shade when blending - it is really not to be missed. Surprisingly the formula is wonderful too: soft, pigmented and never chalky. If you have two pounds this should be your next buy.
I know we all have a few budget beauty products we perhaps swear by but don't actually get around to recommending? Well now is your time, come clean in the comments, share your budget beauty steal and save us all a penny or two.

ReplyDeleteSleek is my budget beauty brand - they do some really great dupes for Urban Decay. Also Rimmel do some great lip liners which look and a little like Charlotte Tilbury.

I love the Revlon Colourstay Concealer and I always buy a £1-£2 clear mascara to set my brows with (even if I do use the £££ ABH Brow Wiz to fill them in, I like a well balance makeup bag ;)) x
