Clinique Skinny Stick Eye Liners Review

First Clinique gave us a whole array of chunky make up products as part of the Chubby family, notably Clinique Chubby Sticks which have spawned a whole new bracket of lip products. As much as I enjoy the oversized products, every now and then I require precision, particularly where eye liners are concerned. It seems Clinique are on the same page with their latest launch - Clinique Skinny Stick Eye Liners.

As the name suggests, Clinique Skinny Stick Eye Liners are slim, retractable style pencil liners which don't require sharpening and come in a whole array of shades - twelve to be exact but more on that later. I rather like that the packaging of each Clinique Skinny Stick Eye Liners correlates to the shade within, great when you own a good few liners and happen to be bleary eyed in the morning. As the liners are so slim and lightweight, they travel well and as there is no need to sharpen they are mess free. Perfect.

Formulation aside (spoiler alert - it is great), the main reason I rate the new Clinique Skinny Stick Eye Liners is the vast colour range. Sure I enjoy and need a staple black liner within my collection but every now and then, a gal wants to try something a little different. Maybe a navy liner, maybe an olive hue or perhaps even a slick of yellow. Say no more Clinique Skinny Stick Eye Liners provide all of the above and more; twelve shades to be exact. I have the following shades: Skinny Jeans - a deep, almost navy blue, Demi Grape - a luxe, royal purple hue, Angel Hair - a truly bright white and lastly Lemon Slice - a bright yet wearable soft yellow. I'm all about the yellow liner (no, really) - yes it may seem odd but it can be applied all over the eye lid to cancel out any redness - believe it or not it is super brightening when used in the water/tight line area. It is my shade to try, I promise it's not nearly as weird as it may seem.

What do you require from a pencil liner? I need, yes that's right need,  it to be both wonderfully pigmented and soft so that it is gentle on such a delicate area of the face, if it is long wearing - well that is a mere bonus. Luckily the new Clinique Skinny Stick Eye Liners are all of the above and more; a soft, creamy and beautifully pigmented formulation that glides on to the skin with ease, almost akin to a gel based product and wears for at least eight hours per application - all with a matte finish. Due to the soft, easy to apply texture you can use the Clinique Skinny Stick Eye Liners as you would a traditional eye liner, as well as utilizing as an eyeshadow base or as a cream eyeshadow. I like to apply Clinique Skinny Stick Eye Liner in Lemon Slice, all over my eye lid and buff out with a fluffy brush - for a wide awake yet utterly natural look. As mentioned above, such shade cancels out any traces of redness and is extremely long wearing to boot.

The Clinique Skinny Stick Eye Liners may not be the cheapest product of its type but it certainly is one of the best. I can not recommend them enough, especially the shade Lemon Slice.
