Topshop 5 Years of Beauty Collection

This month Topshop Beauty will turn five, can you believe that? It feels like only yesterday I set an alarm (yes really) in order to be one of the first to get on my hands on a few items. In the same sense it also feels like Topshop Beauty has been around forever, a good few of my favourite ever beauty items happen to come from the Topshop cosmetic stands - Topshop Cream Blush in Head Over Heels has permanent place within my make-up bag.

Unusually Topshop Beauty have not correlated an entirely new collection of products, rather they have gathered together all the key and best selling items and given them a make-over. A rose gold make-over no less. Along the five year journey Topshop Beauty packaging has somewhat become iconic - monochrome with either stripe or spot detailing. Well to make the fifth anniversary a little more special Topshop have incorporated a white and rose gold colour palette for a limited period. I think I can safely say we all enjoy limited edition packaging every now and then especially when it is adorning one of your favourite beauty products ever, be that a lipstick, nail polish or blush. The Topshop 5 Years of Beauty Collection is expansive but not unmanageable - there is 15 items in total: five lipstick shades, five nail polishes, a cream blush, a glow pot (cream highlighter) and a liquid liner.

Lipstick swatches are the 3rd and 4th in from the left: Nevada and Innocent

Topshop Beauty have been super clever about the concept, rather than rounding up five random shades they have re-launched the five best selling shades over the last five years. The five lipstick shades are: Rio Rio (bright poppy red) from 2010, Ohh La La (coral) from 2011, Innocent (light dusky pink, a good dupe for MAC Angel Lipstick) from 2012, Nevada (a beige nude, not worlds apart from MAC Hue Lipstick) from 2013 and lastly Beguiled (wine) from 2014. I have my two favourite Topshop Beauty lipsticks ever - Innocent and Nevada. Much like all Topshop lipsticks the limited edition versions are well pigmented, creamy, easy to apply, not prone to bleeding/feathering and wear fairly well too! For £8 a lipstick they are easily one of the best budget friendly buys on the UK high street. If you have yet to try Topshop Beauty I strongly recommend beginning with the lipstick range - you will not regret it.

Blush swatches are first two colour blocks in from the left.

Topshop Head Over Heels is a cream to powder formula, the colour pay off is incredible, one little swipe is all that is needed both to create my swatch and all I use during application. As I mentioned it is a cream on first application, this gives you complete control of application - let it dry for a few moments and watch it set to a natural, semi- matte powder finish. The shade of Topshop Head Over Heels is a bright yet neutral coral with equal amounts of pink and orange. As it leans slightly yellow in tone it is suitable for the majority of complexions and in my opinion it is the ideal shade for Summer. It can also double up as a matte lip colour should you wish, at £8 it deserves a place in everyone's make-up bag.

For all of those who enjoy nail polish there is five shades to choose or collect within the Topshop 5 Years of Beauty Collection : Adrenalin (pink glitter), Heart of Gold (gold), Green Room (bright green), Parma Violet (lilac) and Boy Next Door (pale blue). I have a huge soft spot for Topshop Boy Next Door Nail Polish as it applies like a dream and is the most stunning shade of baby blue. For those who enjoy a fun fact - Topshop Adrenalin is Topshop's best selling make-up product ever! The more you know. Each polish costs £6 each.

The Topshop 5 Years of Beauty Collection launches today in selected Topshop and John Lewis stores nationwide, Selfridges Oxford St and online via Topshop - link.
