Laura Mercier Smooth Finish Flawless Fluide Foundation

Light weight, liquid to powder foundations are everywhere at the moment, like everything there are good and bad versions but very few suit all skin types. At the moment my skin is very dehydrated, perhaps dry is a better description littered with blemishes. I need good to full coverage from a foundation but I also require one that won't cake nor cling to dry areas of my complexion. Very few fit the bill but Laura Mercier Smooth Finish Flawless Fluide Foundation gets my seal of approval.

"Laura Mercier Smooth Finish Flawless Fluide. This long-wear, oil-free make-up magically blurs imperfections for a smooth, seamless complexion. Lightweight and colour true, it gives you a flawless natural matte finish. Perfect for all ages, all skin-tones, all skin-types. In 24 shades of flawless. Oil-free; non-comedogenic. Dermatologist tested."

The packaging of the Laura Mercier Smooth Finish Flawless Fluide Foundation is nothing to write home about - a traditional squeeze style tube. As this is very liquid based consistency foundation you do have to ensure the lid is firmly put in place after each use as it can and will leak. To use you simply shake the foundation, dispense and apply to the skin with either a brush, sponge or fingertips much as you would any other liquid base product. Due to the slightly watery texture I find that Laura Mercier Smooth Finish Flawless Fluide Foundation is best applied using the fingertips, the natural heat of the body warms the product allowing for a seamless application. Yes it is a little messy but worth the effort. With a brush I find it is prone to streaking so your next best bet would be to apply with a sponge/beauty blender.

The beauty of Laura Mercier Smooth Finish Flawless Fluide Foundation is the texture, it is weightless yet can be applied in layers where needed for full yet natural coverage. Typically I would describe Laura Mercier Smooth Finish Flawless Fluide Foundation as mid coverage foundation but not your run of the mill offering - it smooths out the skin both in tone and texture as well as optically blurring imperfections. Think of it as foundation meeting the likes of Clarins Instant Smoothing Primer or Benefit Porefessional without the silicone texture. At the risk of sounding like a broken record, my skin is rather blemished at the moment - meaning I have bumps, lumps and enlarged pores everywhere. This foundation levels out my skin making everything seem more even, when I wear this no-one believes underneath I have a full face of adult acne. I don't even bother with concealer. Impressive non?

I have the shade Cashew which is a light, olive toned medium shade. I would deem it somewhat comparable to MAC NC 30 but it is more green in tone.

As I mentioned above this can be layered on to the skin to provide full coverage where needed, it does so without caking, appearing heavy nor will it cling to any dry areas of the skin. Once settled on to the skin I would deem the Flawless Finish Foundation to be matte, it isn't flat nor mask like but you may want to add a little highlighter to perk up the skin. Laura Mercier Smooth Finish Flawless Fluide Foundation is a liquid to powder formulation so it does offer oil control yet won't further strip dry skin. In terms of wear this is one of the few foundations I skip primer all together, my skin doesn't need it. This does it all including blurring my problematic enlarged pores so why bother? Set with powder this stays firmly in place for at least 8 hours longer on normal/dry complexions. It really is one of the best foundations I have tried in the last year or so. Pricey but oh so worth it.
