My Top 5 Budget Buys of 2014

In the last few months or maybe even year it feels like I have somewhat ignored the likes of Boots and Superdrug in favour of higher end brands. Silly really, when some of my favourite products ever can be found in your local chemist for less than £10. With that in mind here is my edit of top 5 beauty budget buys...

My go to mascara is Revlon Lash Potion Mascara By Grow Luscious, a mouthful yes and it did seem a little gimmicky but this is one of the few mascaras I swear by. As someone with often oily skin I find mascara can smudge rather quickly and easily - this does not flake never mind smudge! It doesn't clump despite my desire to apply four coats, it simply creates long, fluttery eyelashes with plenty of volume. I can't contest if it does or does not encourage eyelashes to grow but it is a brilliant all round mascara regardless and one I always have in my stash! Find it here for £9.99 - link.

While we are on the topic of eye make-up may I recommend Rimmel ScandalEyes Kohl in Nude? Easily one of the best nude eyeliners I have ever tried, it glides on with ease, stays put even when my eyes begin to water and really creates big, bright, peepers. Even if nude eyeliner is not for you I can not recommend picking up a Rimmel ScandalEyes Kohl Pencil enough (be it black, brown or blue). They are dupes for the infamous Urban Decay 24/7 Eyeliners only much cheaper and in my opinion come in better shades. Find them here for £3.99 each  - link.

Let's face it we all get blemishes and/or dark circles time to time. For that you want a hard working, easy to apply and reliable concealer. Enter L'Oreal True Match Concealer - it blends so well, doesn't crease and offers great coverage, it can be used to disguise just about any skin fault as well as looking and feeling much more expensive. I would go as far as saying I prefer it over NARS Creamy Concealer! If you are in the market for a new concealer please check this one out. Fine it here for £6.99 - link.

One of my favourite pressed powders has to be Maybelline Matte Maker Mattifying Pressed Powder. Why? Well it is a light silky powder that feels lightweight on the skin, while leaving the skin matte without looking heavy or caking for that matter. In terms of coverage it is sheer and acts almost like a second skin while controlling oily areas of the skin. Is this the best pressed powder out there for oily skin? No but you won't find anything better in the likes of Boots or Superdrug
or for this price . As most will know I have really oily skin and I can apply this in the morning and easily achieve up to six hours of wear before signs of oil appear, I can then reapply this powder to the areas that need it, safe in the knowledge that it won't look heavy nor does it oxidise or settle in my open pores. It's a thumbs up from me. Find it for a mere £3.99 via Boots - link.

I couldn't have a best of budget beauty post and not include a nod to Bourjois Rouge
Edition Velvet Liquid Lipsticks. Easily my favourite budget lip product out there, I own several shades and wear them frequently. An easily to apply liquid lip colour that glides on to the lips, quickly dries and stays in place for hours on end. Yes they can be a little drying - what matte lip product isn't but for days when you need a long wearing product no other budget buy can quite deliver. More new shades please Bourjois - I am addicted! You can find them here for £8.99 each £8.99 -link.
