NARS Douceur Blush

Twitter has been ablaze with the news that NARS will be retiring their Douceur Blush.
I am not entirely sure if this is 100% true but if so it really is a case of now or never when it comes to purchasing the blush and of course in terms of me sharing my review.
Nothing like news of a product being discontinued to ignite a flame under you eh?

The packaging is what we've all come to expect from NARS and Douceur is no different- a slim and chic black rubberised casing with the NARS signature logo stamped on the front. Inside you will find a large mirror which is always a blessing when on the go. If you are familiar with the typical NARS packaging then you will know how frustrating the rubberised finish can be - I kid you not nothing and I mean nothing collects dirt and fingerprints quite like it. However along the way I have learnt that if you wipe the compacts down with a wet wipe or even a wet soapy flannel then somewhat polish with a dry towel the fingerprints et al will disappear. Voilà. For those with curious minds the rubberised finish is meant to act as a shock absorber meaning that should you drop your blush or any other powder product the risk of it shattering is minimised - I can't really vouch for this factor. Douceur in fact means bribe in French, everyday is a school day after all.

NARS Douceur is a firm favourite for many as it is such an easy shade to wear, a light brown tinged pink that is matte and overall neutral in colour. It can be used to add a pop of colour to the apples of the cheeks or into the hollows as a natural contour. If you have a light to medium skin tone this is one I would highly recommend trying out as looks great on just about everyone who slots into this complexion spectrum. Sadly I do feel that on deeper skin tones this will be too light and will veer chalky which I highly doubt is a look anyone is setting out to achieve? Similar shades include Illamasqua Naked Rose (slightly more pink overall) and MAC Mocha Blush (slightly more brown). MAC Blushbaby Blush is practically identical and matte too!

In terms of formula I always classify Nars blushes as fairly firm, perhaps that is why the have a tendency to shatter quite so easily. Despite not being the softest blush around they pick up nicely onto
brushes, have minimal fall out and blend really well - no harsh lines that take an age to buffer out. I do have to say that NARS blushes are really pigmented (and I mean really) so if you are a little heavy handed (guilty as charged) do approach with a less is more might set and you should do okay. If not blend, blend and blend some more.I don't find Nars blushes to present any problems when it comes to dry areas (they don't cling to such areas nor do they settle into enlarged pores) and on my oily
skin when primed I find NARS blushes stay true in terms of colour for up to 8 hours before fading somewhat.

If the rumours are true you really do have to check this out before it is too late!
