NARS Dual Intensity Eyeshadow in Desdemona

NARS Dual Intensity Eyeshadows launched a good few months ago but being fickle I couldn't decide on one shade, so it has taken me up until now to purchase one. Whoops. Man have I missed out as the formula is nothing short of wonderful and the shade range although not extensive is rather beautiful too! Here is why I recommend adding one to your wish list...

When I first saw the NARS Dual Intensity Eyeshadows in person I was a little a taken back by just how dinky they are. Don't get me wrong there is more than enough product and the compact is perfect for travel but I did expect it to be bulkier given it is a NARS product. The NARS Dual Intensity Eyeshadows come in small compacts which don't have the typical NARS rubberised finish, they do however have a good quality albeit small mirror inside. There's not much more to say here really: small, functional and practical - can you ask for more?

The NARS Dual Intensity Eyeshadow collection contains 12 shades all of which have been designed to be used both wet and dry but more on that later. Typically I am attracted to neutral toned eyeshadows but this time around I decided to be a little adventurous and purchased the shade Desdemona. NARS Dual Intensity Eyeshadow in Desdemona is a complex shade and fairly difficult to describe - a mid toned burgundy that reflects blue in certain lights. It is a little 80's in some aspects but if you are fed up of owning 100 eyeshadows all the same tone it is one to seek out especially if you have blue or green eyes. I guess NARS Dual Intensity Eyeshadow in Desdemona can be compared a little to MAC Cranberry Eyeshadow but it lacks the duo-chrome effect.

As mentioned the NARS Dual Intensity Eyeshadows have been designed to be worn both wet and dry, when dry the effect is more subtle and sheer and when dampened the colour pay off is more intense. My advice is to dedicate one area of the eyeshadow for wet use as once wet the eyeshadow does change a little in formula - it becomes a little drier and forms a film of sorts making it difficult to use dry. The overall formula of the NARS Dual Intensity Eyeshadows is soft, creamy and a dream to apply and blend (both damp and dry), the pigmentation of Desdemona is probably one of the few shades in the range that is well pigmented both damp and dry. In my opinion if you don't typically suffer from oily lids you can go ahead and skip primer as this eyeshadow formulation is not prone to colour fade nor creasing - in fact it is pretty flawless in my experience and I can not think of any application woes. I'm sure the lighter shades may be a little more tricky due to pigmentation woes but Desdemona gets a huge thumbs up from me!
