Hands up if you have ever finished a full bottle of nail polish and no spilling half of it on your mum's lounge carpet doesn't count! Yep my guess is 99.9% of us haven't and as polish spoils rather quickly for me it only makes sense when possible to purchase mini polish bottles. That way you get all the fun of shade inside without worrying about it turning gloopy half a year later and hey you might just finish it too! I have admired the Essie Toggle to the Top Winter 2013 Collection from afar but promised myself I would wait for the mini collection to arrive and here we are.
Essie Toggle to the Top Collection features six new and limited edition shades and the mini collection features three of such hues: Parka Perfect - a light duck egg blue with a slight hint of silver glitter and a crème finish, Shearling Darling - a deep berry toned red with a high gloss finish and lastly Toggle to the Top which is again a deep berry red but a glitter finish polish. It is not often that the mini nail polish collections feature the three shades that I would have purchased in full size but this time around I struck out. Eagle eyed readers or die hard Essie Fans (which ever you prefer) may have noticed the Essie’s Leading Lady although almost identical in bottle form on the nails is deeper and more berry toned.
I have experienced no problems with any of the three shades in the pack but a review wouldn't be complete without some application notes. Essie Parker Perfect is beautifully formulated and is one of the few polishes that you can get away with just one coat - perfect if you are in a rush. Shearling Darling is almost a jelly finish and does require around three to four coats to become opaque but you can help it along with a white base coat. Toggle to the Top is of course a glitter polish and again for full opaque coverage you will need numerous coats, I personally like to layer it over Shearling Darling. Each mini bottle has a wide fan style brush that in theory is said to coat the nail in one quick swipe.
All in all a great little trio that will see me through Winter 2013 with ease and one kit that I fully recommend.
I can't seem to find this online but I bought my trio in Superdrug (on a 3 for 2 offer no less) for £12.99 and have seen it for the same price in Boots too.
I love mini polishes! And this trio look stunning!

ah i think i might have to invest in my first ever essie minis collection for this one, looks stunning xx
ReplyDeleteThese look gorgeous, I'm a little disappointed to hear that the Shearling Darling is't opaque after only 2 coats though! It looks as though it would be. Still tempting though :P x

I bought this set yesterday from boots for £9.99 x
ReplyDeleteGaah, I want this so much! I'll have to scour all my local shops trying to find it. xo
ReplyDeleteToggle to the Top looks wonderful! No matter how many red, sparkly nail polishes I have, I always want more. Did the minis come in a little set or did you have to purchase them separately?
ReplyDeleteI love the new Essie Winter Collection and buying a mini bottle is definitely a good idea. I've only ever finished up top coats and sheer polishes that I use under french manicures. Great post!

Really pretty! I too would love the option of buying mini bottles! The only shades I ever go through are sheer pinks/whites
ReplyDeleteLove this trio!

Parker Perfect is absolutely gorgeous! It reminds me of Raindrops by Illamasqua but PP looks more pigmented due to it being a cream. :)
