MAC Beluga Eyeshadow

The MAC Indulge Collection launched online on Thursday complete with lots of Autumn appropriate shades. The one eyeshadow that caught my eye was MAC Beluga and truthfully I am a little shocked that it hasn't sold out as of yet. For me it was the stand out shade and the one that I couldn't be without - seems I was wrong as Three Ring Yellow was the first to fly out the door.

MAC Beluga is officially described as a "dark charcoal with multi-dimensional pearl" but it is a lot more complex than that. To my eye it is a darkened gold green with a slight brown undertone, a little like MAC Club but much more intense and without the duo chrome effect. As for the multi-dimensional pearl claim that is just a fancy pants way of saying that this shade contains teeny tiny flecks of multi-coloured glitter most notably silver and blue. Like I said it is a complex shade and rather difficult to pin point.

Despite being a really great and somewhat original shade I am afraid that the formula is only so-so. In the past I haven't really experienced any difficulties with the MAC Veluxe formula but Beluga was a little dry and not as pigmented as I have come to expect. This is one of those shades that is best worn somewhat sheer not only because this way you get all the nuances it has to offer but because it does not layer up all that well. I also found Beluga to be a little dry and prone to fall out but on the plus side you can dampen the shade to create a pretty foil effect eye liner. Truthfully I am on the fence with this shadow, one one hand the shade is divine and different yet the formula could be improved.
