Beauty isn't all about owning the latest MAC lipstick (ironic that I should write that as one of today's post is just that) but taking care of yourself and making the most of what you have. For some that may well equate to foundation and false eyelashes, others it will be skincare and there may well be a few that it is both. Whatever it means to you why not try a natural approach in terms of ingredients or even better some products produced by your fair hand?
Don't worry about scouring the internet for "recipes" or how to guides and pick up a copy of Natural Beauty by Karen Gilbert which features 35 easy step by step projects for home made beauty products - from cleansers to blemish busters and bath time treats this book covers it all. The great thing about this book is that it manages to feature in-depth instructions as well as a back story on why such ingredients are going to be used. I also like various projects help you to tailor make the product for your own needs i.e oily skin as well as being fairly light on the pocket. I think this is the perfect kick start book for anyone who is keen to go natural be it for health reasons or simply they want to live a greener, animal cruelty free lifestyle and hey it is lots of fun, mum's can even get their kids involved for a Sunday afternoon craft style project.
For the coming weeks I am going to bring back Make Your Own Monday and share something that I have took the time to construct using this book and also give you a mini review on if I would swap my usual branded offering for a completely natural product. As we speak I am currently hunting down the ingredients to make a cleansing oil for oily skin....wish me luck!

I should try out this book. I also believe that beauty isn't about owning the latest MAC lipstick. I try to make products naturally too. :)
