Collection Lasting Perfection Ultimate Wear Foundation

When you stumble across your holy grail foundation the rest of your make-up just falls into place.
Is Collection Lasting Perfection Ultimate Wear the foundation to end all foundations in my opinion?
No but it does have some redeeming features that make it worthy of a review.

For a highstreet offering and a budget product the packaging is not to be sniffed at - a sleek glass pump bottle that does appear to look more costly than £5.99. The style of packaging does have pro's and con's, on the plus side it looks good and it has an inbuilt pump for ease of use and said pump will also reduce both waste and mess. However with glass you do run the risk of it shattering and of course you can not stash it within carry on luggage when it comes to flights.

To the best of my knowledge the Collection Lasting Perfection Ultimate Wear Foundation line contains four shades which is fairly restrictive which in my experience is very typical of Collection. The brand does a few great concealers but the colour choice is never great i.e they don't cater to the very fair or deeper than medium skin tones. I have the third shade in which is Biscuit - I would deem Biscuit to be a yellow toned light medium shade that will suit those around the NC30 in MAC foundation spectrum. Having said that I did find that throughout the course of wear after an hour or so it did oxidize and deepen in shade, that may have been my skin type to blame but I do feel it is note worthy.

As always I have used my mole as a coverage reference point.

The foundation itself is quite thick in texture with a light almost apricot type make-up scent. It is one of those foundations that you have to work quickly into the skin as it sets almost immediately. I found for me the best method of application was a slightly damp flat top kabuki brush but I do warn that by doing so you will alter the foundation finish a little - it becomes more dewy. I would say that Collection Lasting Perfection Ultimate Wear Foundation offers moderate to high coverage that can be built but in my experience the more you apply the more prone to caking and settling into imperfections and/or dry areas it becomes. It is one of those foundations that feels like it sits on top of your skin no matte how you buffer it into the skin. It feels heavy and uncomfortable on my skin but there is no disputing that it stays put even in the heat and on oily skin without a primer. With lasting power comes a flat matte finish that isn't all that flattering instead I recommend mixing a little with a moisturiser to create your own tinted base - that way you gain a more natural, dewy skin product that offers decent coverage and stays put.
