As soon as Shay and Blue Atropa Belladonna Natural Fragrance Spray landed on my doorstep it was love at first spray and I knew right there and then it wouldn't be long until I would fire up the laptop to share my thoughts on this truly captivating scent. Admittedly up until now I hadn't heard of Shay and Blue but if the rest of their scents are half as beautiful as Atropa Belladonna I can see myself building up a collection.
The great thing about lesser known fragrance houses is that you don't run the risk of every twenty something wearing the same scent as you, for me perfume is such a personal thing and I really hate when I walk past someone wearing my signature scent. Petty and unavoidable I know but there you have it.
Shay and Blue Atropa Belladonna literally means Beautiful Lady in Italian but is also a poisonous deadly nightshade - beautiful but deadly...don't you just love the sentiment?
Apparently the rare plant in which Atropa Belladonna gets it's name from has natural toxins which dilate the pupils, giving its subject a deadly, hallucinogenic beauty. The scent that I have of course won't do that to you but it does capture the essence of all things dark, mysterious while being beautiful and sexy at the same time.
With top notes of Mesmerising Dark Cassis Berries you get a strong but fruity first impression which is combined with heart notes of White Narcissus And Jasmine From Grasse, to give a softer floral edge but still remain sexy. The base includes lingering notes of Patchouli And Rare Bourbon Vanilla so the fragrance wears well and all of the notes included within Shay and Blue Atropa Belladonna are from real flowers, fruits and spices no artificial notes in sight.
I honestly can not compare Shay and Blue Atropa Belladonna to any other fragrance I have tested as it is so original, the best I can do is to say that it reminds me ever so slightly of a fruiter, lighter and all round more wearable version of Tom Ford's Black Orchid. Shay and Blue Atropa Belladonna has depth yet it doesn't overpower and for me it is the perfect summer night time fragrance. I know that fragrances are such an individual thing, what one of us may like the other will loathe but since trying Shay and Blue Atropa Belladonna out all I have had is compliments most of which have been demanding to know what I am wearing.

Random Fact - The name Italy comes from the word italia, meaning “calf land,” perhaps because the bull was a symbol of the Southern Italian tribes.
