MAC Ablaze Lipstick

Have you ever slicked on a lipstick and forgot to put it or any other lip product in your bag?
Well that happened to me and as I am saving up I refused to give into my inner twinges of beauty blogging lust and did not cross the entrance into Debenhams Beauty Hall on the plus side at least I did get to fully test out MAC's Ablaze Lipstick lasting power capabilities.

Annoyingly my MAC Ablaze Lipstick arrived slightly damaged which doesn't alter who it applies in the slightest but when you pay £14 for a lipstick I expect it to arrive perfect...cheers Royal Mail.
Anyway that aside MAC Ablaze which is part of the Fashion Set collection is a bright red coral matte shade that is listed on the MAC website as "Bright Apricot Cream" which you can see it is not. To my eye it is very similar to MAC Party Parrot only Ablaze leans a little more orange in tone. I have dubbed it my grown up coral, it isn't neon but my gosh it is bright and will be a great shade for the summer, particularly for evening wear.

MAC Ablaze is a matte formula and as a result a little drying but not overly so but it will highlight any dry patches pre-existing on the lips rather than dry out the lips further. You can of course boost the hydration levels of Ablaze by applying a little balm before application and/or a slick of gloss afterwards. Ablaze glides on seamlessly and is opaque with one quick swipe which does not bleed or feather. I do deem MAC's matte formula one of the more comfortable to wear formulations as it feels like velvet on the lips and today I got a full four hours of wear before Ablaze began to fade to a stain. All in all a great shade which I do recommend snapping up before it sells out again!

P.S Please ignore my littler friend on my upper lip, my skin is crazy at the moment!
