It's no secret that I love anything crafty and that includes rustling up my own fresh face masks at home,
I like being able to control exactly what goes into each and using only natural ingredients
so for the foreseeable future on a Monday I will do a skin care D.I.Y post.

This is probably one of the oldest and most frequent masks I rustle up
and it is one that was passed down to me from my mum.
Not only does it smell truly yummy but it does a super job of softening and soothing the skin
and any left over mix doubles up as a body scrub!

Ingredients
1/2 Cup of Oatmeal
1/4 Cup of Natural Yoghurt
1 Medium Banana chopped into thin slices
2 table spoons of honey

Directions
Place all ingredients into a bowl, using a fork mash the banana into the oatmeal and yoghurt,
once the banana has been made into a paste hand whisk the ingredients together to form
a thick but easily spreadable paste.
If you find the mixture a little too stiff, add a small amount of yoghurt until you have a consistency
that is to your satisfaction.

As a mask - Simply apply a light layer to the skin avoiding the eyes and leave for 10-15 minutes,
rise off using warm water.

As a scrub - Apply to any area on the body and gently buff using light circular movements,
again rinse clean using warm water.

Why banana, oatmeal, yoghurt and honey?
Banana's are great for soothing dry, itchy or inflamed skin naturally while being gentle.
Yoghurt is also wonderful for soothing and softening the skin, it's great on broken skin.
Oatmeal is a fabulous and completely natural scrub that is gentle yet effective.
Honey is a natural moisturiser and works well with the above products.

This mask will last 3 days when kept in an airtight container and in a cool place such as the fridge.

Do you make your own facial masks?

Psst recognize the pink tub used to store my mask?
Yup it's an old Lee Stafford Hair Growth Treatment Tub haha!
