Erborian Bamboo Waterlock Mask Review

Every now and then my skin has what can only be deemed as a freak out; my typically oily complexion will suddenly dry out, become tight and flaky, and if I am really unlucky a rash will also appear. Luckily such side effects disappear after a day or two but for those 48 hours or so, it really is a case of finding something gentle, quick acting and of course ultra nourishing. Enter Erborian Bamboo Waterlock Mask; the instantly hydrating, pick-me-up, that dried out, stressed skin has been waiting for.

I realise this is an utterly bizarre thing to hone in on but can I just say a huge yay for the plastic tub styling of Erborian Bamboo Waterlock Mask. As pretty as glass jars make be on display, I can not tell you how many jars I have dropped and ultimately lost due to slippery, product laden hands. The Erborian Bamboo Waterlock Mask may not be the best looking product amongst my stash but let me tell you it is convenient - it doesn't shatter and the wide top means that you can easily scoop out just the right amount of product. The plastic design is also lightweight meaning it won't weigh down any Summer suitcase - trust me you are going to want to pack this!

Erborian Bamboo Waterlock Mask is a hydro-gel mask - in simple terms a water based facial product that has a gel-come-jelly like texture. As you can probably imagine once applied to the skin this is both refreshing and cooling, not to mention all but weightless. The core ingredient is of course Bamboo both in sap and fibre form. Bamboo sap contains amino acids, to help hydrate and plump the skin and to an extent offer anti-ageing benefits; the Bamboo fibres contains proteins and lipids, to help maintain skin's and retain the complexions natural moisture levels long after the mask has been applied. Think of it as a double hitter: first you get the instant skin plumping hydration, coupled with continuous moisture for the next 24 hours or so (longer with continued use)- it is pretty clever and great for stressed, dehydrated and dried out complexions.

Much like the gift that keeps on giving the Erborian Bamboo Waterlock Mask can be used two ways (always with clean and dry skin): apply a light layer, leave for up to 10 minutes and rinse off (perfect for normal to oily complexions), or apply and leave for as long as it takes for your skin to fully absorb the mask - both methods are suitable for twice weekly applications. The latter method is of course more intense and perhaps best reserved for utterly dried out complexions, or maybe as a facial after-sun. However you decide to use Erborian Bamboo Waterlock Mask I can assure you that it will quickly and effectively smooth, soften and plump the skin all with next to no effort or irritation.

A Summer and dry skin staple in the making.
