The Three Sigma Brushes You Need

When I first began blogging Sigma brushes were all anyone could talk about, and I'll admit that I was a little late jumping on the bandwagon. I only really, began to appreciate the brand fully as of the start of this year. It all started with the beautiful, luxe and wonderfully tapered Sigma F35 Highlighting Brush and has slowly snowballed from there. I may not posses the largest Sigma collection but I own enough of their tools to recommend a selection of everyday must-haves.

I see no shame in admitting that I am not the most skilled at blending eyeshadow - without a good blending brush, things can more than end up a little muddy in my hands. I personally find that the bigger, fluffier and altogether tapered eyeshadow blending brushes make my job that little easier - I weirdly also prefer a synthetic brushes too, again I find they come with a certain degree of ease of application. The Sigma E40 Tapered Blending Brush is all of the above: a large yet not overly so brush head, that is both synthetic and tapered in style. It easily slots into the eye socket area, to gently buff and sweep away harsh lines; nothing I own quite diffuses eyeshadow like it, and as an added bonus it washes clean beautifully, free from staining and loosing its original shape. This may be the best just over £10 eyeshadow brush I own.

Yes I am mentioning the Sigma F35 brush again because I truly do believe it can change how you apply highlighting products, much like it has for me. Again this is a super-soft, tapered brush that is slim-line and ideal for precision application - the tapered tip of the brush collects just enough powder to create a lit-from-within glow. If like myself you are a little heavy handed, the shape and size of this brush prevents you from over applying; you can also use this brush to gently buff and blend out highlighting powders or should you wish as an option to set under eye make-up. However you decide to use this brush, I am more than sure you won't be disappointed - as a matter of a fact if I could only own or recommend one brush for the rest of my life this would be my selection. Says it all really.

Sigma F05 Contour Brush £15.25 via Cult Beauty  - link
Weirdly I don't contour all that often, without bragging I do have naturally high cheekbones so sometimes I do feel it is a little unnecessary for day-to-day wear. I do however like to sculpt and shape my round, button nose for photography reasons and of course a night out - if I am feeling extra fancy I will apply a little bronzer to the hollows of my cheeks as well. Admittedly one of the reasons I'm not a huge fan of contouring is due to a lack of adequate tools - I own tonnes of brushes and yet very few aide in the application of contour powders. On a whim I purchased the Sigma F05 Contour Brush - a small, soft yet dense, rounded top brush, that neatly slots into the contours of the face. Despite being dense it does not pick up more product than you need (yes even with a heavy hand),I find along with applying product such as powder bronzer, it gently diffuses and blends in one swift movement - goodbye heavy stripes of un-blended powder...or maybe that was just me? I should add that I didn't find this brush boded all that well with cream products, but for powder, it may be the tool you have been waiting for.

I do feel another Sigma order coming on sometime soon, I may wait until I'm in the USA to take advantage of the discounted brushes and of course shipping, watch this space...
