Underwhelming Beauty Products

I think we are all well enough informed to know that not every product will be a hit, along the way we are all sure to discover a few misses; sure it's annoying and it is expensive, especially if said item works so well for someone else but I guess it is all part of the learning process. I am a huge believer that just because I don't hold something in high esteem, doesn't mean it won't work for someone else and as such , I do try my best to highlight in any reviews where a product under-performs and if my skin is to blame. Spoiler - more often than not it is. That's not to say I can't grumble with the best of them and below is a few recent purchases that have left me slightly underwhelmed.

My Beauty Diary Lemon Vit-C Sheet Mask
I love sheet masks, in fact I use one every single night and my skin has never been better but one of the very few that I wouldn't recommend is My Beauty Diary Lemon Vit-C Sheet Mask. Now on the whole My Beauty Diary Sheet Masks are great: low cost, effective and fairly easy to get but My Beauty Diary Lemon Vit-C Sheet Mask irritated my skin. After just two minutes of application my skin became tight, uncomfortable and irritated. Needless to say I quickly removed the mask, washed my face and slapped on some Aloe Vera gel to cool and calm my complexion. Never again.

Tony Moly Facetone Skin Tint
While stockpiling sheet masks I decided to add a Korean foundation of sorts to my basket and must stress that there is nothing really wrong with this product, as in I can find no real faults but at the same time I wasn't overly impressed. Tony Moly Facetone Skin Tint is best described as an ultra light foundation (both in coverage and texture), as someone who needs a little coverage this was a little disappointing. On a more positive note it does contain an SPF of 30, is easy to apply and features an ever so slightly glowy finish. If all you have to balance out is an uneven skin tone this could be a great option for you.

Diorshow Brow Styler Gel
Bought on a whim, a product that promises to tame, shape and hold unruly brows while appearing entirely natural and transparent in finish. Turns out it is nothing more than a clear brow gel with a great brush applicator and that is the only compliment I can muster. The Diorshow Brow Styler Gel never fully sets meaning the brows are always a little tacky to touch - a clear mascara would cost a whole lot less and do a similar job, if not identical job.

Superdrug Facial Hair Removal Cream (Sensitive Formula)
Yep I'm hairy and as such I do use hair removal cream, I'm not really fussed in terms of brand and as I am such a huge fan of Superdrug's own brand products, I purchased their Superdrug Facial Hair Removal Cream and actively looked forward to applying it. I'm weird like that. Typically speaking my face isn't hyper-sensitive and yet this left a bright red, slightly flaky moustache. Yeah I think I'd rather embrace the peach fuzz thank you very much.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipsticks
I have more liquid lipsticks than sense and couldn't wait to get my hands on a few of the Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipsticks - the shades are beautiful and without really doing any research I assumed that the formula would be great. I was wrong, they are beyond drying, never fully set and prone to flaking. As much as I love the brand Anastasia Beverly Hills, this is one product I can not get behind - maybe my lips are just being awkward? Who knows.

Maybe I should do a little more research before handing over my bank card in the future. I know I'm not alone in purchasing a product on a whim, so tell me what has recently underwhelmed you within the beauty world? More importantly are you accepting that not everything will work for you or do you find a way to get your money's worth from every single product?
