Two Unusual Budget Primers to Try

Is it weird that I really enjoy primers? Along with lipsticks and contouring powders (and maybe blushes too), they are my favourite thing to purchase and of course try. Primers may be a relatively new step in most beauty routines but since discovering my first ever tube of Benefit Porefessional, there was no looking back. I'm glad that primers have slowly but surely become a main stream product and trickled into the stands of more budget friendly brands; as well as becoming truly innovative. On such note, I have found two not only affordable but unusual primers that I urge you to try.

Two Unusual Budget Primers to Try

GOSH Primer Plus + Hydration (£13.99)

Thanks to a combination of air conditioning, humidity and perhaps not enough water, your skin may be calling out for a little extra hydration? Or maybe you have a naturally dry/dehydrated complexion to begin with? In both instances, you need to give GOSH Primer Plus + Hydration a whirl. A light, gel based primer that contains snow algae to help repair damaged skin cells, all the while gently hydrating dried out skin without being heavy, sticky nor greasy. As a matter of a fact, it is very much a lightweight consistency and other than the instantly cooling, gel sensation you can not detect GOSH Primer Plus + Hydration on the skin. You can feel the hydrating boost instantly, it is almost like a cooling glass of water for the skin - doesn't that sound heavenly.

As I have oily skin, this may not be a broad issue as my skin is less likely to lap up the extra moisture. I did however notice that this takes around 2-3 minutes to fully absorb, once it does, it creates a beautiful canvas for make up - smoothing and moisturising in one quick step. For those with dry skin, you will be pleased to know that the GOSH Primer Plus + Hydration moisturises any dry patches to allow make up to glide over the skin. As you would expect from any primer, this helps to prolong the wear of make up, and in the case of traditionally dehydrated skin it offers a little oil control. It works by keeping dehydrated skin moisturised, to prevent production of excess sebum to over compensative for the lack of natural moisture.

Not only does GOSH Primer Plus + Hydration nourish, prime and prolong but it acts as a first step in anti-ageing. There are not many primers like this readily available, let alone on the high street. You can find it here - link.

We prime our face and our eye area, without as much as a second thought and yet we neglect an area that is subjected to the most daily wear and tear. Yep, I'm talking about our lips. Due to eating, drinking and talking, lip products are put through their paces daily and yet so many (myself included) are quick to grumble when they fade, slip or bleed. Well a £3 product may change that for good, as well as saving your lips from drying out from extra matte formulations.

MUA Pro Pout Prime is a silky, balm like primer for the lips which glides onto the lips providing a nourishing yet matte and colourless base. By doing so it creates a comfortable to wear barrier that grips onto any product applied on top, to prevent colour fade, moisture loss and of course smudging. Despite containing silicones, it is not at all uncomfortable to wear, nor does it alter the finish of any lip product layered over the top. The days of Lipcote being the only lipstick prolonging product out there are numbered. You can find it here - link.
