Three 90's Supermodel Cult Beauty Products to Try

Cindy Crawford is my favourite beauty icon of all time - drop dead gorgeous, glamorous yet effortless - one of the original Supermodels. It was Cindy Crawford and Cindy Crawford alone, that taught me to love the mole on my cheek.

For years I have scoured over beauty articles that quote and cite Cindy Crawford's beauty routine, determined to stock up on her essentials and hopefully learn a few secrets along the way. Time and time again, I have noticed the same three staple products recommended over all else. The good news is all three items are fairly universal, easy to source and happen to be great everyday products - it turns out there is more to 90's beauty than roll on body glitter and sticky lip gloss.

1, MAC Spice Lip Liner

Thanks to a Kylie Jenner and the power of social media, lip liner is very much en vogue. Two shades that are sold out pretty much everywhere are: MAC Lip Liner in the shades Soar and Whirl, it turns out we are all on the quest for the perfect deep, slightly grunge inspired matte lip? One shade we've mostly overlooked in such hunt, is MAC Spice Lip Liner - the one shade that was on every Supermodel lips in the '90's. Okay back then it was used to line and team with a pale lipstick, a trend that has thankfully not been resurrected but as a standalone shade it is not to missed.

MAC Spice Lip Liner is a mid toned, almost orange based brown come nude, that will translate to a deep warm nude on paler complexions, and a lighter, altogether milky wash of colour on deeper skin tones. It is the ideal shade to gently over line and reshape the lips, without looking extreme. On top of that MAC Spice is muted enough for everyday wear yet offers enough punch, depth and drama for evening wear. This is one 90's shade I am glad has lasted the pace of time.

2, Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Cream

I read that back in the 90's and at the height of Supermodel mania, models used this all over their face to combat dryness and dehydration during long haul flights. I can't say that I have ever tried such method but I do agree that it is a wonderful, multi-purpose product. Not only does this wonder balm help to heal cracked and broken skin - anywhere on the body for that matter (it is one of the best lip balms I have ever used) but it also doubles up as a hand and foot balm. If that is not enough, it can be used to add a light sheen on the skin, help to steam shaving cuts and of course tame the brows and flyaway, stray hairs - brow or otherwise. Long live Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Cream.

3, L'Oreal Elnett Hairspray

If this is the secret behind Cindy Crawford's signature voluminous locks, where do I sign up for a lifetime supply? All jokes aside, I think we can all agree that L'Oreal Elnett Hairspray is one of, if not the best hairspray out there. L'Oreal Elnett Hairspray offer all the control and hold a person could wish for - all without leaving the hair sticky, rock hard or weighed down in product. Yes it does have a somewhat "learn to love" fragrance but it can be found in just about any beauty aisle nationwide, not to mention it brushes out with ease. Some products are cult for a reason.

I wonder if bloggers in 25 years time, will be harping on about the good old days of Urban Decay Naked Palettes and NARS Laguna Bronzer?
