Collection Matt Lip Butters Review Swatches

Matte lip products are certainly having a moment aren't they? With the arrival of the new MAC Matte Lipstick collection and onslaught of matte lip creams by every beauty brand under the sun, it's time to embrace the trend - that is if you aren't already a fan! One of my top recommendations has to be the new Collection Matt Lip Butters: beautifully formulated, easy to use, in three great shades, all the while being budget friendly.

As the Collection Matt Lip Butters come in chubby crayon/pencil form they are a breeze to use - you can line and fill the lips in one quick step, the twist up design not only eliminates the need for a sharpener but also mess/waste too. In terms of design the Collection Matt Lip Butters are not worlds apart in both design and function from the Revlon Color Burst Matte Balms. It also may not surprise you that the texture and formula is pretty similar too but more on that later.

At the moment the Collection Matt Lip Butters come in three shades: Crimson Velvet, Marshmallow Pink and Pumpkin Pie - a red, a pink and a coral. All three are fairly universal but I have broken down each shade below.

Collection Matt Lip Butter in Crimson Velvet - is a bright, almost neon red that leans fairly neutral with a yellow undertone. It reminds me somewhat of MAC Relentlessly Red Lipstick which coincidently is also matte in finish.

Collection Matt Lip Butter in Marshmallow Pink - a dusky, blue toned, mid pink that is fairly similar to MAC Snob Lipstick, albeit in matte form.

Collection Matt Lip Butter in Pumpkin Pie - again another bright option, this is a red come orange shade that is slightly deeper in tone than your average coral. Off the top of my head I can't think of an outright dupe but fans of MAC Sushi Kiss may enjoy this.

You will be pleased to learn that not only are the above shades pleasing on the eye but the formula is rather wonderful too. The Collection Matt Lip Butters couple the pigment of a typical matte lipstick for beautiful colour pay off, with the texture and nourishment of a balm. The result is a moisturising yet matte lip colour that glides on with ease, stays in place yet does not cling to dry areas, nor does it encourage the lips to dry out or flake. As an added bonus they are lightweight and don't tend to transfer onto clothing or glasses/cups - great for those who don't have time to reapplying lipstick constantly throughout the day. Yes the finish of the Collection Lip Butters are matte but not overly so, it is not a flat wash of colour, more of a natural matte finish and perhaps more akin with a typical satin finish. Simply put the Collection Matt Lip Butters are lipstick perfection and at just £2.99 a shade, accessible to all.
