Urban Decay Brightening and Tightening Primer Potion Review

Humid weather and make-up don't tend to go hand in hand, I like to call Summer oily season purely because even those with normal skin types will encounter a little shine and perhaps even slip of make-up. I reserve my sympathy for those with oily skin to which this is a daily battle (ha!), I jest of course but the one thing every Summer make-up bag and/or kit should contain is a good facial primer. A primer that will hold everything in place and keep you looking fresh all day long. Who have I recently turned to? Urban Decay of course, King of primers and bright make-up. Think of Urban Decay Brightening and Tightening Primer Potion as a dewy glue, a light infusing primer that will keep everything where it should be even in the most testing of weather conditions.

I really like the current packaging style of all Urban Decay Primers; the needle point, squeeze design makes dispensing the product far easier than the old, doe foot applicators. The Urban Decay Brightening and Tightening Primer Potion packaging dispenses just enough product each and every time, isn't prone to leaking and is fairly lightweight - great for travel. I have been told that the old packaging is coming back - how true that is, I don't know but I think it is a step backwards rather than forward. I can recall loosing so much product due to the doe foot and Googling a whole lot of hacks to set the remaining product free. As I have said that does remain to be seen.

Urban Decay Brightening and Tightening Primer Potion is what I deem to be a multi-tasker, the light yet silky and colourless balm texture not only gently moisturises the skin but also perfects and adds a gentle sheen come glow, all the while locking foundation and face make-up in place. The Urban Decay Brightening and Tightening Primer Potion optically blurs fine lines and enlarged pores but somewhat filling them without overloading the skin with silicones - a combination of oil-free Matrixyl 3000 and Hyaluronic Filling Spheres plump the skin, giving the impression of smoother and softer skin. Once applied to the skin it instantly and temporarily tightens and firms the skin making it an ideal choice for more mature skins - my Mother swears by it and has been known to dab around the eye for a more lifted appearance.

If you are a fan of dewy skin this is the primer for you (I like to team it with NARS Sheer Glow Foundation or Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation to really look glowing), it does not mattify but rather it adds a subtle non-greasy healthy and natural glow to the skin. Despite not boasting a matte finish I do find it does help to keep oil under wraps, especially if foundation is set with powder. I would also recommend Urban Decay Brightening and Tightening Primer Potion to drier and dehydrated complexions as it is somewhat hydrating - well as hydrating as a primer can be. It doesn't overwhelm the skin with moisture but it does inject a little comfort and hydration, this could make foundation wear all the more comfortable for such skin concerns. I have oily skin and like to use it because it feels light and refreshing (ideal for the warmer weather), softens my pores and most importantly grips on to my make-up. I can apply this at 7am and know that come 7pm my make-up will still look fresh and glowing. I think this is what gives it the edge over matte primers, there is no caking and it works with the skins natural sheen (bound to happen after 8 or so hours) rather than against it.

Much like the Urban Decay Eye Primer Potions there is no beating Urban Decay Brightening and Tightening Primer Potion, it delivers all it says it will and more. If you are looking for a reliable, softening and brightening primer that will keep make-up in place all day long; all the while injecting both moisture and a light glow - this is the one to beat.
