Carmex Lip Balm

As a beauty blogger I do tend to concentrate on newer and dare I say it more exciting launches and collections. I do however believe that there are some products that shouldn't be overlooked, items that have pride of place within my collection and perhaps yours too? For that reason alone, once a week I am going to dedicate a post to what I deem to be a beauty classic; a review and explanation to why you should try such products at least once in your lifetime. Kicking things of we have my jacket pocket essential - Carmex Lip Balm.

Carmex Lip Balm has been around for over 80 years and has been voted the most recommended lip balm since 1999 - impressive wouldn't you agree? Let's forget why others rate the now iconic yellow packaged balm and let me tell you why I forever have a jar, tube or stick on my person at all times. First and foremost, it is one of the few lip balms I have owned or tried that actually heals chapped lips, it is medicated using camphor and menthol (it is also what provides the natural and instantly recognisable scent) to speed up the natural recovery process, act as pain relief and to calm inflamed skin.

Typically I don't rate nor recommend petroleum based products but as Carmex uses it combined with other ingredients to form an almost invisible "bandage" for the lips I can't complain. The idea is that by using such ingredient a water tight seal is formed, trapping in moisture and of course allowing intensive healing to take place. I've used Carmex for years and believe this may be the very reason to why it works so well. Carmex lip balms don't just heal the lips they also deeply moisturise, using Lanolin to mimic the way skin naturally retains moisture.

Carmex Lip Balm now comes in many forms and fragrances but for me nothing beats the original either in pot or stick form; quick and easy to apply, long lasting, fast acting, solves just about every typical lip compliant - not to mention it is both cheap and readily available. If you have yet to try it, come on over to the yellow side - I'm sure you'll enjoy it!
