Dolce & Gabbana Summer Shine Collection

I am a little disappointed that we have now reached June and it is still very much chilly with next to no sunshine here in Glasgow, however one new launch sure to brighten up the dullest of days is Dolce & Gabbana Summer Shine Collection. A limited edition array of beautiful shades (both bright and neutral) that are ideal for not only the Summer season but pretty much all year around.

Admittedly bright eyeshadows are not my forte - I lack the skill and patience required to really make them work but I do appreciate a good formulation when I try it. Dolce & Gabbana The Eyeshadow Duo in Summer Hue  (£33) is a beautiful set of two bright yet pastel hues, one pastel blue and one bright blue based pink (due to size of the eyeshadow pan this could double up as a blush). The pigment is intense, one little swipe is all you need for full on colour saturation that lasts all day (easily up to 8 hours). Dolce & Gabbana powder eyeshadows are one of the few formulations that do not require a primer to ensure it stays in place; they blend seamlessly and don't have a tendency to crease - you really do get what you pay for.

If neutral eyeshadows are more you thing then perhaps Dolce & Gabbana The Eyeshadow Quad in Blush (£42) will be one you will find difficult to resist. The formula is exactly the same as the above (well pigmented, long wearing and a dream to wear and apply) only the shades are brown based - three matte hues and one shimmer - darkest red based brown (matte), ivory (matte), light rose gold (shimmer) and mid toned red brown (matte). I like to think of this as a mini Naked palette albeit a little more luxe. As you have light shades, deep shadows and shimmer tones you can create both day and night looks with ease. Without a word of exaggeration this has to be one of my favourite nude toned eyeshadow palette launches of the year.

If you enjoy subtle highlighters then the new Dolce & Gabbana Glow Illuminating Powder in Luna (£36) is one that you will really need to try out. This yellow toned, natural highlighting powder is so subtle that capturing the end effect on camera is neigh impossible. You will have to trust me when I say that this finely milled powder creates a candlelit glow, rather dousing the skin in glitter and shimmer particles. As someone with enlarged pores this is a dream come true, it brightens and adds radiance to my skin (I can even apply it all over as a setting powder should I wish) without drawing emphasis to my problem areas. If you enjoy the likes of Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powders then this is one you won't want to miss, I can not recommend it enough.

Oddly the Dolce & Gabbana Summer Shine Collection features a pale blue lipstick amongst two other colour options which admittedly are more wearable. All three shades are comfortable, moisturising and a dream to apply - the gel like formula glides on to the lips and stays in place for up to three hours per application (even with drinking and eating on the cards). The shades are Sheer - a bright but very universally flattering red, Light Blue - a pastel, almost icy white blue that can be worn alone or combined with other lip shades for a more muted effect. If like myself you have a penchant for coral and orange lipsticks then Dolce & Gabbana Shine On is the one for you. A light, tangerine tinged nude that compliments not only tanned complexions but also paler skin tones - a great alternative to your typical coral or nude lipstick. You can find all three shades via Harrods for £25.50 each - link.

Fans of slightly ruddy bronze blush hues will not want to pass up on Dolce & Gabbana The Blush in Apricot  (£33)- this bronze come dusty peach blush is best described as the grown up alternative to Benefit Dallas Blush. If you like to create more of an outdoor, almost sun burnt look to the cheeks this is the shade for you. Not only is Dolce & Gabbana The Blush in Apricot well pigmented but beautifully formulated, the matte texture does not settle into open pores nor is it any way chalky. I must warn that the levels of pigment within this blush are intense, a light hand and extra fluffy brush are highly recommend when it comes to application. Despite having super oily skin one application tends to wear true with no signs of fading for around 8 hours - I am beyond impressed and will purchase other shades in the future.

Lastly to cover all bases the Dolce & Gabbana Summer Shine Collection contains four nail shades to choose from: Nude Lilac - a pale, muted lilac based nude that offers up a wash of colour, Light Blue - an icy pale blue, Peachy - a bright, almost orange peach tone and Sheer - a bold, classic red. I'm far from a nail blogger so I'll spare you from images of my mangled paws and say that the Dolce & Gabbana The Nail Lacquer Summer Shine Collection Polishes, veer a little on the sheer side and do require around three coats to become fully opaque. The good news is that they dry quickly and to a high sheen finish, not to mention aren't overly prone to chipping. You can find all four shades via Harrods for £20 each - link.

The entire Dolce & Gabbana Summer Shine Collection is exclusive to Harrods and can be found here - link.
