Benefit Dew the Hoola

Late last week Benefit's newest launch was delivered and I all but made it my mission to try it out over the weekend, egged on by a combination of curiosity and excitment. Benefit Dew the Hoola is a liquid bronzer, something I don't see all that often. Promising natural yet bronzed up and dewy skin I all but ripped the lid off there and then, with the recent spade of sunshine who doesn't want to look a little more radiant? If you are a fan of the original and dare I say it cult Benefit Hoola Bronzing Powder you may want to read on...

Let's get the bad new out of the way, Benefit Dew the Hoola will not be available as a stand alone product until 2016. The good news is that you can purchase what I am assuming is a travel size of the product within Benefit Do the Hoola Beyond Bronze Kit (follow up post to come) exclusively at QVC for £23.16. Yes Benefit are teasing us but as far as bronzing kits go it is a great, everyday kit that includes just about everything you'd need for a full face of make-up, not to mention it would be the perfect travel companion for any sun soaked holiday you may have booked?

So yes the main event, Benefit Dew the Hoola - a light, liquid come gel bronzer that promises to revolutionise how we see the world of bronzing. It is of course based on the original and best selling Benefit Hoola Powder only this boasts a sheer, glow inducing finish. Think of it as a liquid highlighter and bronzer all rolled into one. It gently warms the skin will adding radiance and due to the sheer finish it is suitable for just about every skin tone; medium complexions will most likely need to apply a few layers and deeper skin tones may see this as more of a highlight than bronzer. In terms of colour I would liken it to Chanel Soleil Tan de Chanel - a warm yet yellow based bronze, neutral yet not unnatural in colour; subtly sun kissed rather than obvious.

The good news is that it is really buildable without caking or every feeling heavy on the skin, I'd go as far as saying the gel like consistency feels weightless on the skin. Dew the Hoola is a dream to apply, simply pump once for enough product to bronze the entire face and either blend using a brush or your fingertips. I prefer the latter as the heat helps to work the product into the skin. Further adding to my infatuation is the Benefit Dew the Hoola contains no noticeable shimmer or glitter particles, yes it adds a glow to the skin but the finish is entirely natural - think a refined J.Lo glow and you won't go far wrong. As mentioned this is more of a gel than a liquid or cream making it super light weight and rather adaptable; you can apply as you would any bronzer to warm or sculpt or you can mix it in with foundation to warm the entire complexion. Great I hear you say but how does Benefit Dew the Hoola wear? Wonderfully - it doesn't cling to dry areas nor does it succumb to excess sebum, rather it stays in place for a good eight hours without the need for primer. If you wanted to set it in place I would recommend using the pan of Benefit Hoola within the kit, the same would apply should you want to up the ante in terms of colour pay off.

If you like soft, fresh, easy to apply and wear bronzers that offer a natural flush of colour this is one I have no doubt you will enjoy, it is such a shame that we have to wait until 2016 for the full launch.
