Additional SPF's

We all know about protecting our face and body from the harmful sun rays but what about your hands, lips or even the delicate eye area? First of all let me say easier said than done where the hands and the eyes are concerned, ridiculous as those are the two areas that age quickest where the sun damage is considered. On the UK high street (Boots and Superdrug) I kid you not when I said I only found two hand creams with an SPF value, both of which were Neutrogena products. Eye cream with SPF? Forget it not one to found on a budget, you will have to splash out on the likes of Clinique. The good news is that lip balms with SPF are plentiful, all you have to do is find your favourite. Speaking of favourable products here is my Additional SPF picks and why I rely on them...

Neutrogena Norwegian Formula Anti-Ageing Hand Cream SPF 25 £4.49 via Boots -link
Like many I am firmly in the habit of applying SPF each morning to my face before make-up, as the face is exposed daily to ageing UV rays it is my first defence against sun damage but why not the same vigilance for my hands? They see as much, if not more of the elements daily and unsurprisingly as such are one of the first areas to show signs of age, this is why I don't understand why there is not more hand creams with SPF? Luckily there is a great budget option which not only protects against sun damage but contains active soy to offer intense moisture and protection, as well as reducing the visibility of brown spots. This is a rich, non-greasy and intensely moisturising hand cream - it acts quickly and is perfect for day use as it contains an SPF of 25 - an extra benefit for no additional effort.

Clinique Superdefense SPF 20 Eye Cream £29 via Boots - link
As you may be aware, lines can form around the eye area due to the squinting in the sun - an eye cream of course won't prevent this, your best line of defence is a good quality pair of sun glasses. I however do apply Clinique Superdefense SPF 20 Eye Cream both to my eye and lip area. I've been told time and time again, that the skin around the eye is finer so surely it only makes sense to protect it? Oddly this particular eye cream is a little on the thick/heavy side yet it doesn't irritate my skin nor does it feel sticky. It quickly absorbs, hydrates and protects the skin and like I mentioned it can be used around the mouth which creating clogged pores and//or blemishes, a fear for all of us when heavy SPF's are involved surely? A great everyday, do it all eye cream that is well worth the splurge - a little goes a long, long way and I feel great knowing that I am doing all I can to protect my skin.

The Body Shop Vitamin E Lip Care SPF 15 £4.50 via The Body Shop - link
SPF in lip balm is less of a rarity, rather it boils down to finding your perfect formulation. My everyday lip balm is currently The Body Shop Vitamin E Lip Care SPF 15. I rather like that it is gentle yet hydrating, very lightly scented so it doesn't overwhelm and as it contains both an SPF of 15. Combine this with a hefty does of Vitamin E (rich in collagen) and it should keep the lips appearing youthful for as long as possible, as well as protecting against the elements. Great for popping in your pocket for use throughout the day. One of the best budget friendly SPF lip balms I have come across and one I have several tubes of scattered throughout my handbags.

If you have any eye or hand SPF recommendations please do let me know as I am forever on the look out for improved formulations.
