Superdrug Vitamin E Dual Phase Cleansing Oil

I recently went for a facial and while discussing my acne prone skin which has just began to scar, the facialist recommend Vitamin E products as apparently such nutrient when combined with Vitamin C can help repair scar tissue. I mentioned I had no idea where to start and rather helpfully the facialist pointed me in the direction of Superdrug's Vitamin E Dual Phase Cleansing Oil. Apparently a bargain at just £2.99 and a product she had used for a long while and wholeheartedly recommends. For change of £3 I thought it was worth a go and picked up a bottle before catching my train home. As a side note does anyone else love and hate facials in equal measure; the lovely glow can't be beaten but going home bare faced and slightly shiny from the oil...not so much!

Rather impressively the Superdrug Vitamin E Dual Phase Cleansing Oil is free from mineral oil as well as being completely vegan. Is this cleansing oil on par with the likes of Shu Uemura Cleansing Oils ? No but it can hold its own! A gentle blend of vitamin E and Horse Chestnut blend together to care for dry/dehydrated and even mature skin types. As this is a rinse of formulation it is safe for oily and normal complexions to use too, should your skin be a little on the dry side rest assure that it will not further strip the skin of moisture.

To use the Superdrug Vitamin E Dual Phase Cleansing Oil you simply shake to combine the two liquids, apply to dry skin, massage and rinse clean. I personally like to use in conjunction with a wash cloth and find that due to the oily texture I do have to rinse my face at least twice. Is this a cleanser to use when in a rush? No, as you really do have to ensure you get every scrap off to prevent blemishes and blackheads from forming. If used correctly it does leave the skin deeply cleansed, free from make-up and soft to the touch without being harsh or irritating. It is also safe enough to use on the eye area and makes light work of removing even waterproof mascara, should you want to skip a separate eye make-up remover. As with most facial cleansing oils I would recommend following up with a toner just to be on the safe side.

So let's get on to the issue at hand, does this reduce acne or any type of facial scarring? So far no, I can't say that I have seen any improvement but on the plus side I do think it has some what worked as a preventive measure. Due to acne medication, my blemishes become a little dried out and (I really hope you are not eating while reading this) crusty. Yuck! To allow said imperfections to heal without scarring, I do have to be particularly careful cleansing as when they reach the scabbing stage if they are not allowed to heal naturally they may scar. The slippery texture of the oil has been nothing but helpful, I have not ripped the heads off any marks since switching and the additional oil has stopped them from become itchy and overly dried out. My red marks are still very much present, hey anything that may help prevent future patches from appearing is worth the extra five minutes of care in the evening.

It may not be the healing cleanser I was hoping for but I am suitably impressed none the less, for change of £3 I am sure others will be too. The search to heal acne scarring continues...
