Revolution Ultra All Day Prime and Anti-Shine Balm

I know typically my reviews are fairly lengthy but today I have a fairly speedy run down of a fairly new product from Revolution in the form of Revolution Ultra All Day Prime and Anti-Shine Balm. From the get go I am going to say that I do not deem this to be a primer in any shape or form or at least not where my oily skin is concerned.

Revolution Ultra All Day Prime and Anti-Shine Balm

Revolution Ultra All Day Prime and Anti-Shine Balm is an oddly soft yet light weight balm that the brand claim can be slicked on under foundation/base products, in place of pressed powder or as an emergency route to combat excess oil on the go. Despite looking like a large pot of Vaseline and having a similar texture until applied to the skin this does quickly turn skin matte. Personally I wouldn't slick a balm product all over my face to set make-up as the motion of doing so will of course move make-up. I would also worry that daily use of a silicone laden balm all over my face would eventually lead to clogged pores and of course blemishes but I feel that way about the vast majority of silicone primers. The best way to apply is either with your fingertips or the provided sponge - I found a brush oddly resulted in a really heavy application.

However where the Revolution Ultra All Day Prime and Anti-Shine Balm does excel is to quickly combat oily areas of the face on the go. A quick dab of this balm on problematic areas such as the t-zone and the shine is quickly eliminated. I will admit that it does feel moisturising on the skin but a less is more approach is needed otherwise the action of application will remove any make-up underneath. The Revolution Ultra All Day Prime and Anti-Shine Balm does somewhat fill in excess pores and fine lines and behaves fairly similar to the likes of Benefit Porefessional and Clarins Instant Smooth Perfecting Touch. What sets this silicone primer/balm aside from others is that I have found that the design of the product means you can use it to turn any lipstick matte should wish. No the brand doesn't recommend using it this way but I can vouch it works. Not bad for £5 at all.
