Estee Lauder Perfectionist Youth-Infusing Foundation Review

I apologise for lagging, I have been trailing this foundation since way back in August and never sat down to express my views. The good news is that I do keep going back to Estee Lauder Perfectionist Youth-Infusing Foundation and have since bought a second bottle (in a different shade). If that doesn't say winner I'm not sure what does.

Estee Lauder Perfectionist Youth-Infusing Foundation is the newest foundation to join the fairly expansive Estee Lauder line up. Although a new formulation the shades correlate exactly to the Estee Double Wear colour selection meaning you won't have to guess what shade you are. The downside is that shade line up isn't as expansive as Double Wear, with many shades not making the cut. All of that of course only makes sense if you are familiar with such foundation, otherwise I strongly recommend getting colour matched at your local counter. For reference I currently wear MAC NC25-30 and Estee Lauder 2C3 Fresco seems to be a pretty good match. A quite note in regards to the packaging - a sleek glass bottle and unlike Double Wear this features an in-built pump which distributes just the right amount of foundation each and every time - no leaks, no spill, no mess and no fuss!

What I found surprising about Estee Lauder Perfectionist Youth-Infusing Foundation was the texture, when first applied you are greeted with a lightweight but creamy foundation and yet once blended into the skin it takes on a powder like consistency. Application wise, I find the heat of my fingertips really helps to distribute and blend this foundation into the skin.If you are familiar with Giorgio Armani Maestro Fusion Make-Up or even L'Oreal Magic Nude Liquid Powder Foundation you will understand exactly what I mean. However what sets Estee Lauder Perfectionist Youth-Infusing Foundation apart is not only the skincare aspect (this contains Estee Lauder Perfectionist Serum) but how it feels on the skin. In the past I have found the aforementioned Armani and L'Oreal foundations to not only feel tight and drying but to look flat, in some instances I even looked a little ill. Estee Lauder Perfectionist Youth-Infusing Foundation lifts the face, it gives a "my skin but better effect" and seems to give an altogether brightening effect. I will be entirely truthful in saying that although somewhat creamy this does cling to dry areas and the general coverage level is moderate at best.

Above shows the texture of the foundation, my mole in its bare state and the foundation blended over my mole so you can see the coverage levels.

Perfecting is exactly what this does, it will cover discolouration, even out the skin tone while brightening and lifting the complexion. It wears better than a tinted moisturiser or BB/CC Cream and certainly offers more coverage but it won't mask all imperfections. I find this is a foundation that I do need to team with a concealer but the good news is that it is great for oily skins, it does not fade and seems to offer oil control. If I don't have a long day ahead I don't generally tend to set this with powder as I am guaranteed at least 6 hours of shine free wear. When primed and set I typically achieve 8 hours of true wear before it begins to fade and excess sebum sets in. I should also mention this contains an SPF 25 and does create a little flash back in flash photography. Natural, easy to apply and long wearing - it is the lesser spoken about Estee Lauder foundation but I think that will soon change!
