The Best of Moisturising Treats

With the weather taking a sudden turn for the worse here in the UK (as I type this it is lashing down with rain and blowing a gale), I thought now would be a good time to share my favourite moisturising treats for the body and face. None of which happen to be typical facial moisturisers because most of us will have various needs from a winter ready facial moisturiser which is a post in its own right.

First up we have the bargainous and utterly delicious Superdrug Cherry and Macadamia Nut Body Butter. As you may imagine this smells out of this world but the scent alone is not enough to gain entry on to this list. This body butter is rather luxurious - thick with an almost whipped texture that not only quickly hydrates the skin but sinks in within moments even on damp skin without a trace. At a mere £1.99 for a large 400ml tub you'd be nuts (geddit?) not to try it! Find it here via Superdrug  - link.

I am fairly lazy when it comes to taking care of the skin on my body - foolish I know but I do have a few shower products that help to keep skin soft and subtle. My all time favourite shower treat has to be L'Occitane Almond Shower Oil. Again this has an incredible scent (not as sweet as you'd imagine) but nourishes and cleanses my skin like no other. The gentle oil formula leaves my skin feeling soft and supple as well as locking in moisture (it doubles up as a great albeit pricey alternative to shaving gel) meaning it is no big deal if I skip body moisturising after a shower every once and a while. At £17.50 for the smallest sized bottle it is something I do tend to favour only when my skin needs it but if you are feeling flush your skin will thank you for the splurge. Find it here via Feel Unique - link.

A great alternative to L'Occitane Almond Shower Oil is of course Lush The Olive Branch Shower Gel which has the most fantastic and difficult to pin point scent ever which comes alive once combined with water. This little bottle of shower gel is infused with olive oil (be sure to shake before each use to really make the most of the oil) so much like the above L'Occitane recommendation this not only cleanses the skin but nourishes and moisturises in one quick step. A little goes a long way and unlike the shower oil this can be used as a shampoo on super dry hair too. Prices start at £4.75-£15.95, personally I recommend going in store to purchase but you can find it here - link.

I did state that I would not be including any facial moisturisers and technically I am not but I do have to give a shout out to Superdrug Vitamin E Moisture Mask. Basically this is an intensive moisturiser or a sleep mask, a cooling, light and almost gel like textured cream which you smooth on to the skin, allow to absorb and then tissue off any excess after 10-15 minutes. As many will know I have oily skin which doesn't typically require a lot of hydration but due to stress I have been suffering from dry areas. Now to begin with I did rate this all that highly yet I bunged it in my suitcase and took it to the states with me and let me say it has saved my sun parched skin. Gently yet effectively moisturising where needed (I even used a little on my dried out shoulders) as well as cooling. The added vitamin E really does brighten the skin too which will come in handy when the winter weather sucks what little radiance I have in my complexion. I should mention that this facial treat is a mere £2.59 for a large 75ml tube which in my estimations should last a good 12 uses at the very least. Find it here - link.

As someone who is a little too found of hand sanitizer and over washing their hands I do like to have a beyond hydrating hand cream in ever hand bag I own. I do rate Elizabeth Arden's 8 Hour Intensive Hand Treatment above all else as it not only instantly hydrates my skin but forms a protective barrier as well as healing any cuts or sores. However at £26 a tube I more than appreciate it is expensive for a hand cream. My other recommendation is however slightly more affordable at £8 and oddly can be found at Topshop - EOS Hand Lotion. This is a new discovery to me and was bought on a whim in Bed, Bath and Beyond last week. This light silky hand lotion comes in a few fragrance variations (cucumber is my favourite) and does pretty much the same job as the above Elizabeth Arden Hand Treatment minus the healing quality. The only downside is that it doesn't seem to last all that long, I drained a full bottle in a little over a week (maybe it was excessive use, I don't know?) hence why it is missing from my above photo. I have however ordered another bottle as the dinky size is great for travel and everyday use. You can find it here for £8 - link.
