It is a little scary that Christmas is less than two months away, 8 weeks yesterday marks the spot and if I am entirely honest I am in no way ready. I think for the first time ever I will be rushing around on Christmas Eve grabbing whatever is left on the shelves. If you plan on being a little more savvy or generally better with your time you may want to shop the L'Artisan Parfumeur x Vente-privee Flash Sale a limited time flash sale where the average saving is 65% off RRP.
I was kindly sent two bottle of L'Artisan Parfumeur fragrances to try out for myself: L'Artisan Poivre Piquant Eau de Toilette which is said to be inspired by a wedding story in the Kama Sutra (steady on). Sugar and pepper were sprinkled on the bride’s wedding veil. Sugar for the sweetness of life, pepper for the sparkling joy (and sensuality!) to come. Notes include white hot pepper which you can detect initially but due to addition of milky yet woody notes the sharpness mellows. It also includes a hint of liquorice which gives a masculine edge and honey for a little extra sweetness. This is a difficult fragrance to pinpoint and smells unlike anything else I own - as it was based on a man marrying a woman I think it is rather clever that the notes depict both feminine and masculine qualities.
The other fragrance I was sent is L'Artisan Parfumeur Séville à l’Aube Eau de Parfum which is based upon a passionate story of a romance during the Holy Week, in the city of Andalusia Apparently the orange tree was central to the story of such romance and of course the fragrance. It opens with spicy, green and zesty notes and follows with heart notes of Jasmine accord and beeswax. Generally speaking this is a bright citrus scent that I wouldn't personally reach for in the colder months but see if more as a Spring and Summer option. However due to the base notes of lavender and frankincense it does have an almost festive undertone. Again unlike anything at all I have tried or tested in the past.
