YSL Tuxedo Palette

If you are going to be flying in December and passing through Duty Free keep an eye out for a new and exclusive palette from YSL - YSL Tuxedo Palette. A classic black zip case which features not only eyeshadow, lipstick and blush but also a highlighter and mini YSL Shocking Mascara. Basically the YSL Tuxedo Palette has all you need to create a smoky evening look in one place!

I've pretty much summed the packaging above, I have tried with all my might to remove the make-up tray in order for the black case to be reusable but so far I have not figured out how to do so. Perhaps I am just a weakling (I say perhaps when I know it to be a fact) but at the moment I can't seem to remove the make-up palette without chipping any of the powder products. If you have more might than I, I do think the YSL Tuxedo Palette casing would make a cute clutch bag of sorts.

A quick run down of what is inside the YSL Tuxedo palette: a matte mid toned pink blush, an oyster pink glitter highlighter, three lipglosses and one lipstick (a neutral mid tone pink, a bright blue toned pink, a classic red and an oyster pink gloss which is intended to be layered over other shades), 5 eyeshadows (a deep shimmering glitter based emerald, a glitter based navy, a stark white, a matte black and oddly a candy metallic pin) as well as a mini tube of YSL Shocking mascara and of course a small blush brush and a foam applicator. Like I said above pretty much all you need for a smouldering look minus an eyeliner!

The eyeshadows are what I have come to expect from YSL - well pigmented, silky soft and an utter dream to apply. As this is a December launch it is not really all that surprising that YSL have included not only jewel tones but glitter based shadows - the glitter is not at all gritty and looks pretty refined on the eyes. To vamp things up we also have a matte black eyeshadow and a bright metallic white shadow to highlight. I have to be utterly honest in saying I have no idea what to do with the pink eyeshadow. The matte pink blush within the palette is pretty universal and should suit most complexions, I have to be utterly honest in saying that I don't really care much for the highlighter. It has a bizarre, dry texture that I found difficult to blend out and the fact that it is really glittery didn't bode well with my enlarged pores. Apparently one of the three lip products is a lipstick and the other three are glosses - I couldn't say with 100% certainty which is which as they all have a fairly sticky and glossy texture. On the lips they do feel like a gloss but have more pigment that the majority of glossy lip products out there. Wear time is fairly typical at around two hours at the very most per application. Lastly we have the YSL Shocking Mascara which is a blacker then black formula which my flimsy eyelashes find a little heavy but if you have decent eyelashes to begin with this will give the effect of false eyelashes without having the tendency of clumping.

All in all a great little smoky palette which would make a great Christmas gift.
Apologies that I do not price of this palette - I will update as soon as I find out!
