Weekly Favourites

So here is my weekly picks once more, I like to think I have been more adventurous than usual in my choices i.e I have dusted off lesser loved products and put them to use.

Weekly Favourites

It's been all about the base this week, due to medication my skin has been a little drier than usual so certain foundations have had to be shelved. To disguise my pores and generally keep make-up in place Clarins Instant Smooth Perfecting Touch Primer has been my go to erm primer? Although a little thicker than some primers this not only resurfaces the skin but also keeps my skin matte all day long. A little goes a long, long way but if you dream of creating an air brushed effect this is the primer you not only want but need!

Can I say that I'm not the biggest fan of Laura Mercier's Silk Cream Foundation yet I'm painfully aware I have a tube - a tube that I am determined to use up rather than see go to waste. The thing is this is a beautiful foundation, it does create a seamless base, wears well but I find it feels a little heavy on the skin. In this foundation's defence on dry skin it does sit better than the majority of bases I own, it doesn't cling to dehydrated areas of my face and does a stellar job of masking redness. Not my go to foundation by a long shot but great if you have a drier skin type, I will most likely get more use of this in the winter months.

Another product I like but don't adore is By Terry Hyaluronic Hydra-Powder, a setting powder that hydrates the skin as well as keeping make-up in place. Pretty clever and perfect for dehydrated complexions. It does what it says on the tin and is great for those prone to dryness. Speaking of dry skin my concealer of choice for such days has to be Benefit Fake Up Concealer, this silky balm like textured concealer that is perfect for the under eye area. I like that it hides any signs of sleepless nights, isn't prone to creasing and is utterly comfortable to wear.

My cheek trio has been a quick swirl of Chanel Bronze Universal to contour and warm the skin, a dusting of Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Glisten and a few dabs of Benefit Sunbeam Highlighter for a little radiance. The end result is rather pretty, cheeks look plump yet defined and the golden highlight really sets off the golden peachy pink tones of the blush. A new combination for me but one that doesn't look set to be going anywhere soon.

I'm still all about the deep nude pout but oddly two new products have made it into the fold, YSL Baby Doll Kiss and Blush Lip and Cheek Tint in 10 Nude Insolent which is a deep pink toned nude that has that 90's vibe so many of us desire. I like that you can use it on the cheeks (I don't) and that despite settling to a matte finish it is not at all drying or uncomfortable on the lips. It wears exceptionally well but before application I have been lining and filling my lips using Bare Minerals Marvelous Moxie Lip Liner in Exhilarated which is not only the perfect match for the YSL hue above but a great stand alone pinky nude. This may be my new favourite nude pink lip liner, the silky sift texture is to die for!

If you like gel based cleansers I urge you to try out Pro Formula Radiance Melting Gel Cleanser which believe it or not is Tesco's own brand, costs £5 and is a great dupe for the likes of Clarins Pure Melt Cleansing Gel. It quickly removes all make up, leaves my skin feeling cleansed and soft. If you buy one thing this week let it be this.
