Jo Malone Wood Sage and Sea Salt Collection

Hurrah today is the nationwide launch of Jo Malone Wood Sage and Sea Salt. I know, I know if you had a pound for every time I have mentioned the newest Jo Malone fragrance you would be at least fifteen pound richer. The thing is I'm not even sorry as it really is a beautiful, Autumn heck even Winter ready scent. If you enjoy slightly androgynous fragrances that are light, airy and slightly aquatic then this post is for you.

So on to the notes, which are a light blend of ambrette seed, sea salt and sage, along with red algae and grapefruit. If you are a fellow Brit it will most likely remind you of walking along the sea front on a crisp Autumn day. You have the cleanness of the ocean air, mixed with salt and a slightly woody base. It is cool (in the cold sense) yet has a familiar warmth - I liken it in terms of mood to being bundled up in a lovely, warm woolly jumper. Snug.

The thing that seems to be confusing most is why launch a seemingly aquatic fragrance in September? Well unlike Davidoff Cool Waters et al this is not your typical aquatic scent, it has not been created to mimic warm days spent sunning yourself rather it draws inspiration from the British coastal line. Any Brit will tell you as picturesque as our beaches and landscape may be, warm they are not! A British visit to the sea more often than not includes an umbrella and a whole lot of wishful thinking. Jo Malone Wood Sage and Sea Salt perfectly encapsulates the wet yet fresh fragrance that you will discover when strolling along the promenade, perhaps walking your dog and promising yourself fish and chips afterwards for your efforts.

Jo Malone Wood Sage and Sea Salt slots nicely into the woody family of Jo Malone fragrances, I would deem it to be unisex as it has a slight ambiguity and despite listing grapefruit as one of the notes I can not detect it all. It has an effortless coolness to it, it is not at all overpowering, rather you'd have to get pretty up close and personal to smell it on someone yet at the same time it lingers on the skin. If you are looking for a fragrance that perfectly sums up the British Autumn (natural and almost mineral) I urge you to head to your local counter and give this a test. To say I am obsessed is an understatement.
