Weekly Beauty Favourites

The good news is that my Summer cold has gone, the bad news is that here in Scotland along with the cold the Summer itself has seemingly disappeared. I do enjoy the Autumn but I do think August is too soon to be thinking about scarves and a thick coat don't you? Anyway before I bog us all down with my Zara wish list let me share what I have been enjoying for the last week or so...

A Clinique combo - the texture of Clinique Stay Matte Foundation (find it here - link) keeps my skin matte yet fresh all day and really helps prolong the wear of cream blushes, which is just as well as I can't get enough of Clinique Chubby Stick for Cheeks in Robust Rhubarb (find them here - link). A bright, rosy coral that can be sheared out for a just pinched look. It is such a pretty shade and the formulation is forgiving on cheeks with enlarged pores like myself. I like that I can quickly stroke the crayon like cheek tint on to my face, blend in with my finger tips and hey presto. Look out for a full review on the entire line of Clinique Chubby Stick for Cheeks, they are not to be missed.

I have rather been enjoying matte eyeshadow this week, I am a recent convert to Tarte Eyeshadows. If you think the formulation of the Tarte Amazonian Clay Blushes is nothing short of wonderful then you really need to try the eyeshadows out next. The texture is soft, buttery, easy to blend out and beyond pigmented. At the moment I only have the Tarte Prismatic Eye Colour Enhancing Shadow Palettes in True Blues (find it here - link) but will add to my collection when I hit the states. Another great matte formula has to be the new-ish L'Oreal Color Riche L'Ombre Pure Eyeshadows (find them here - link). At £5.49 they are quite the steal and much like the Tarte palette the formulation is not to be missed - they are gel infused to ensure they stay put. I'm personally enjoying the shade 104 La Vie en Rose - a light, coral pink that doubles up as a blush.

Newly on the Revlon stands and on my lips are the new Revlon Colorstay Moisture Stain's (find them here - link), doesn't it feel like we have waited forever for them to arrive on UK shores? Anyway they are here now and well worth the wait - a non-sticky, glossy stain that packs more pigmentation than I anticipated. Yes they are a pretty worthy dupe for the YSL Glossy Stains not to mention like a third of the price. I have been sporting the shade Rio Rush which works well with a slicked back pony tail and crispy white shirt if I do say so myself. As many will know I love the scent of mint, to the extent it is almost obsessive. While clearing out a handbag I found a little pot of Mary Elizabeth Spearmint and Tea Tree Nuture Balm (find it here - link) and have been slicking it on my lips all week long. It smells out of this world and does a great job of keeping my lips flake free. The best part about this balm is that it is a use anywhere concoction - nails, skin etc.

Like I said it feels like Autumn here in Glasgow and I have been looking for an excuse to try out my Chanel Le Vernis Nail Colour in Blue Satin (find it here - link) for the longest time. With grey skies and puddles currently forming outside there really couldn't be a better time. I love, love the shade - a deep inky navy blue and it is not as chip prone as say Frenzy or Orange Fizz. This could quickly become a staple...we shall see!

Lastly and forgive me for it has yet to launch, I have been misting myself with Jo Malone Wood Sage and Sea Salt Cologne since the day I was gifted it. If I was to pick a current favourite fragrance it would be Bella Freud Ginsberg is God Eau de Parfum but if I am entirely honest the weather just isn't cold enough to wear it daily. Rather Jo Malone Wood Sage and Sea Salt Cologne is the perfect end of Summer scent, it is light, fresh and captures the mood and scent of a day spent rambling along the British coastal line. You will want to check this out once it launches. Trust me!

Oh and my favourite read of the week...only kidding brace yourself for some shameless self promotion! I have brand new blog, no beauty but I do shop. You can check it out here - link.
