Those little silent products that are less than glamorous yet have a purpose within your routine and are repurchases time after time. When I sit down and think about it, my razor and eye spray are more useful to me than a lip liner or new polish and yet I am reluctant to blog about them. Bizarre. Here's to unsung beauty heroes, long may you keep my lips in tip top shape and my legs fuzz free!
So yes a razor, one that has a suction pad and clings to my shower wall for dear life. As a child I longed to be a proper grown up "lady" and shave my legs. Now don't get me wrong you can't beat silky soft, pins but if I knew just how much effort the upkeep is I doubt I'd have been so eager to get started. For as long as I can recall I have used a Gillette Venus razor and shave gel (Apricot was a firm favourite of mine. I no longer use the shave gel but I do still purchase Gillette Venus razors -my weapon of choice is the Gillette Venus and Olay Sugarberry collaboration (you can find it via Superdrug for half price at the moment - link). Each razor head has inbuilt conditioning strips, the head is flexible so I don't knick myself and it also exfoliates in one quick step. Exciting? Nope but at least my legs feel great!
While we are talking about in-shower products I have one shower gel I am pretty loyal too, sure other fruity gels may grace my bathroom but Rituals Yogi Flow Shower Foam (you can find it here - link) is the one I always come back to. It smells great rose and sweet almond oil, it cleanses my skin without being stripping and doubles up as a shave gel. Another seldom mentioned but adored bath time product has to be Palmers Coconut Oil Deep Conditioning Protein Pack (find it here - link). For convenience I do wish this came in a tube or tub so I don't have to wrestle with wet packs in the shower but it is worth it for the deep conditioning treat inside. This thick conditioner not only deeply conditions but it helps to rebuild and repair the hair. The fact it smells out this world really is only a bonus. If your hair is dried out and generally troublesome this little £2 treat is all you need. I'd go as far as saying it out conditions Aussie 3 Min Miracle.
Three handbag staples for me are Clinique's Deep Comfort Hand and Cuticle Cream (find it here - link), it is heavy duty yet doesn't feel heavy or greasy on the skin. It keeps my hands nicely moisturised, is scent free and a little goes a long way - well worth the splurge (I tend to cheap out on handcream!). I also carry around a tube of Blistex Relief Cream (find it here - link) as my lips are prone to chapping and splitting, when it comes to repairing disgruntled lips nothing does it better. If you team Blistex Relief Cream with Carmex Lip Balm and you pretty much will have the lips of a sleeping fairytale princess...maybe not but you catch my drift. I also swear by Optrex Actimist 2 in 1 for Dry and Irritated Eyes (find it here - link), this takes the sting out of any allergies and also stops my eyes from drying out when I spend to long glued to a computer screen.
Do you have any beauty products that you use daily but don't often speak about?
In case you are looking for some new reading for a lazy Sunday, I happen to have a new blog.
I'd love if you would check it out, find it here - link.
What a great idea for a post. I also love the Venus razors, best I've used yet and I'd have to say my other favourite everyday product is the Nivea lip butters, they come in a little tin and several flavours and are so soft and nourishing, I always have a few on the go.
ReplyDeleteSo true, I don't know why they're not blogged about! I love venus razors, especially the yellow one which has olay soap bars on them!

I love this post! There are so many products that I love yet I consider them far too boring to do a whole review post on so this is a perfect idea.
ReplyDeleteBlistex Relief cream is amazing, I love the tingling feeling too, nothing like 'feeling it work'!

I love that Palmers coconut range! I have the shampoo and conditioner and they really do help to repair your hair without leaving it horrid and greasy like some intensive conditioners tend to do.
ReplyDeleteLove the venus razors although I tend to use a mixture of disposable and venus ones xx

ReplyDeleteGreat post. You are right i have no idea why we hold off blogging about these products when we use them the most. Dont think you can beat a venus razor, i love the yellow ones.

This is such a good idea for a post, these are the products that definitely do need a shout out. My lips have been so sad looking this winter, so I'll definitely need to try the repair cream - it's so tiny and cute though, I'll probably lose it. x

I've had a post idea like this in mind for a while. I'm glad they're popping up a bit more often as quite a lot of the time the most essential products go unheard of.
