L'Oreal Color Riche Mono Eyeshadows

I have spoken about my love for the L'Oreal Color Riche Mono Eyeshadow's in the past (read the first post here), at £5.49 each they are a complete snip! They come in so many beautiful shades and formulations that you honestly will be hard pushed to walk away with just one shade. With that in mind I did purchase three brand new shades just last week. Whoops.

The packaging is what you'd expect from L'Oreal - well sized (not too big nor small), yes it is plastic but it is sturdy and can take a knock or two and let's face it they don't half look bad. I have no complaints - I like that there is no foam applicator included (waste of time and money in my opinion) and that due to the size I can pack a few shades and not feel as if my make-up bag is bulking. I'm currently trying to figure out how to de-pot my L'Oreal Color Riche Lumiere Mono Eyeshadows without breaking them so I can create a custom palette. If I do succeed I will post a tutorial. As a heads up the softer, metallic shades will break fairly easily if dropped which you will see in my photos.

In the past I have dabbled with the beautifully embossed Lumiere shadows which are metallic in finish, this time around I settled on a matte shade and two metallics from the "nude" line up. I really do need to pay more attention at make-up stands rather than being blind sighted by all the new pretty things. That way I would be able to tell you with certainty that all the shades within the L'Oreal Color Riche Mono Eyeshadows Nude Collection are neutral in tone and frost in finish alas I can not. I can say that the two shades I bought are indeed metallic and neutral: Nude 201(ignore the fact I've broken this shadow) is a light, shimmering taupe. It leans fairly grey and has a strong purple undertone not to mention it is cool in tone. I imagine this will be utterly dazzling on green eyes and it isn't worlds apart from MAC Satin Taupe in tone. Nude 204 may look like a cool toned gold in the pan but once applied it is a bright, almost copper gold that is laden with silver glitter. I'm not really keen on this shade truth be told, I feel it is a little dated. Lastly I bought a matte, pink - Matte 104. This isn't your typical pink, it has an orange undertone so it is almost coral and said hint of orange really makes blue eyes pop. If I am entirely honest I bought this with plans to put it to use as a blush. As it is a true matte, it makes a great blush - the soft gel formula gives a soft focus finish and the light pinky peach hue should suit all skin tones. Don't you love when you can use a product in more ways than one?

The formula is what makes the L'Oreal Color Riche Lumiere Mono Eyeshadows a must purchase in my eyes, a gel infused eyeshadow which almost feels wet to the touch but glides on to the skin with ease and quickly sets. If you have oily eye lids like myself (I'm generally an oily mess truth be told) this is the eyeshadow formula for you. Once applied they don't budge or crease for that matter and honestly perform just as well with a primer as they do without one (around 8 hours each way)- which is not something I can often say. The texture and finish reminds me of a more solid version of L'Oreal Color Infalliable Eyeshadows .The pigmentation is incredible, my swatches show one light swipe but on the other hand they do blend out with ease too if full on colour isn't your thing. I would truly say that they are more pigmented than the MAC In Extra Dimension Eyeshadows I mentioned earlier and only a third of the price too. At £5.49 each you own it to yourself to pick up at least one of the L'Oreal Color Riche Lumiere Mono Eyeshadows. Mind blowingly good.
