The Body Shop Haul

Fellow Glaswegians (and those who use Glasgow Central Train Station) will surely agree that the small selection of shops on the upper level are dangerous when you either miss your train or you simply have time to kill. When this happens I more often than not head into The Body Shop and seldom leave empty handed, no guesses to what happened yesterday...

The Body Shop Haul

Personally I like really fruity shower gels, in the summer they just seem fitting and in the colder months they give me a little citrus based boost. I used to purchase a lot of Philosophy products but for the price I didn't feel the formula was up to much, scent wise they are friggin' fantastic but yeah not the best body cleansers - enter The Body Shop. Not only does The Body Shop offer just about every fruity scent you can imagine within their bath and body range but their shower gels are a mere £4 for 200ml (forever on offer too) and soap free so that they cleanse without drying the skin. I usually stock up on Mango scent but this time around I purchased the newly re-launched Early Harvest Raspberry fragrance which you really need to test for yourself as it is the most ripe, juicy scent ever - I am obsessed with this line of products. The other scent I went for was Blueberry which I can't make up mind about. Sometimes I like it then other times I'm not sure I do, hopefully it will grow on me...well it will just have to as it is now in my shower ready for use ha! Sticking to the fruity topic at hand I also picked up two The Body Shop Lip Butters which I tend to have dotted around several make-up bags, desks and the car glove box - I don't do dry lips. I will be brutally honest and say that not everyone will like The Body Shop Lip Butters as the fragrances are rather chemically in scent and the texture is different to a typical lip balm. In my opinion they are one of the firmest balm products I own and work best in the warmer weather as the cold air tends to set them and basically makes them impossible to use. If you don't have overly dry lips, like a fun albeit fake fruity scent then I do recommend giving them a go. Sadly the Early Harvest Raspberry fragrance doesn't extend to the lip balms so I walked away with my beloved Mango scent (it reminds me of Mango fromage frais) and the new Blueberry addition which oddly smells better in balm form! One last re-purchase and then I'll get on to the new additions to my stash, once again I bought The Body Shop's Vitamin E Eye Cream which is my choice for day wear. It is super light weight but gently nourishes the under eye area. The great thing about it is the texture is not greasy in the slightest so you can apply make-up over the top without it creasing or caking. It moisturises, de-puffs the skin and cools in one quick step. I like to keep a tube on my desk for when I'm working on the computer and one in my bathroom for morning use. I will be truthful and say that I don't think this will do much for mature skins but for younger complexions looking to branch out and begin using an eye cream this is the perfect starting point. You can find it here for £10 - link.

Anyone who knows me will tell you that I loathe my enlarged pores and anything that promises to mask or reduce them will undoubtly be snapped up. While rooting around The Body Shop I noticed their Tea Tree Pore Minimiser and without a second thought added it to my basket. Basically it is a silicone based primer (think Maybelline Baby Skin and Benefit's Porefessional in terms of texture) with added Tea Tree Oil so that it is not only suitable for blemish prone skin but in theory it should prevent breakouts too. I kinda think this is a genius move by The Body Shop as silicone tends to reek havoc with a lot of skin types. Today is the first time I have used it and I can say that it has blurred/filled in my pores beautifully, it leaves a matte finish and make-up glides on top. It is obviously early days but so far so good and I will report back with a full review in the coming weeks. Until then you can find it here for £7.50 - link.

I have been intrigued by The Body Shop's Vitamin E Overnight Serum In Oil for quite some time and did have a bottle when it first launched but sadly leaked in the post and arrieved empty. I'm a true fan of Estee Lauder's Advanced Night Repair and having heard this is somewhat similar I wanted to pit the two against one and other. I did try The Body Shop's Vitamin E Overnight Serum In Oil last night for the first time and found it to be a little heavier than my firm favourite - this could well be because it is an oil and it has been a while since I have used an oil product on my face. What I can say at this point is that my skin feels beautifully soft (no fresh glow as of yet) so I will keep using it for a few weeks and see how I get on. Until I get around to a full review you can find it here - link.

Lastly I was gifted a bottle of The Body Shop's Perfume Oils - I choose Amazonian Lily which to me smells very similar to Stella McCartney's L.I.L.Y EDP. I'm pretty sure this has been intended for wear on the body but I have poured a little in an oil burner and have to say the scent throw is incredible. Not bad for a free gift huh!
