Did you lust after the Laura Mercier Artist Palette this past winter but much like myself missed out?
Well on May the 1st via Space.NK the Laura Mercier Artist Palette will return and this time around it comes with a mini mascara and Laura Mercier Caviar stick too!
The Laura Mercier Artist Palette packaging is divine - it feels and looks high end which I guess it should given the hefty £60 price tag...ouch. To the untrained eye (ha!) the Laura Mercier Artist Palette could easily pass as a fancy clutch bag due to the deep plum mock croc outer - the palette is not exactly dinky in size nor is it overwhelming it could easily fit in most evening bags with ease. This Laura Mercier offering does not come with any brushes but it does feature a large mirror for on the go applications.
Inside the Laura Mercier Artist Palette you will find 12 full sized eyeshadows - 6 mattes and 6 shimmer formulations and there is also two shades that are exclusive to this palette : Diamond Pink, a stark shimmering lilac tinged pink and Violet Steel, a deep metallic shimmer based plum. The other 10 shades are staple Laura Mercier hues in a variety of neutrals, dark smoky offerings and a few sprinkles of muted colour. As most will know I stay clear of bright eyeshadows but the odd wash of subdued colour never goes a miss. I can honestly say that there is not a shade within the Laura Mercier Artist Palette that I won't use at some point or other. If you are looking for an array of eyeshadows that will see you comfortably just about any occasion this the palette I would recommend.
The formulation of Laura Mercier eyehshadows on the whole is great - the mattes are buttery soft, blend out well, offer great levels of pigmentation, are flattering and when teamed with a good primer last the full working day. My only complaint would be that the lightest and oddly the deepest shades (Buttercream and Noir respectively) are a little stark and can lean chalky, particularly Buttercream. On the bottom row we have shimmer and glitter based eyeshadows which are fairly muted although glitter is present. Certain shades aren't overly pigmented which in a sense is a blessing as it makes the over all finish softer and more wearable. Much like the matte shades they are soft to the touch, easy enough to apply and blend out and again teamed with a primer they stay put even with my oily lids. Okay the price point, £60 which is almost double what it retailed for a few months ago (£34 I believe). My guessing is that the two mini eye products have helped upped the retail price but they don't quite warrant a £26 increase. I'm not sure why the jump is so high but there you have it. Truthfully I do adore the palette but do think the sudden price leap is a little over the top and personally I would be reluctant to fork out £60 for something that was marginally cheaper a few months ago.
