Tarte Sultry Sunset Eyeshadow Palette

The Tarte Cosmetics Sultry Sunset palette was the one product in the QVC collection that I couldn't wait to receive, when I seen a sneak preview a few months ago I knew that it had to be mine. If you are a fan of neutral eyeshadows you are in for a treat!

Being a fan of cutesy packaging the Tarte Sultry Sunset Eyeshadow Palette really appeals to me - a bright pink and gold trimmed faux leather (soft and squishy!) compact that is dinky in size (about the size of a wallet) yet features 8 well sized eyeshadows. Inside you will find a good sized mirror and rather oddly this palette comes with no brushes what so ever. This could be to keep the cost down, I'm just glad they didn't go down the foam applicator route that is for sure.

As you can probably see the Tarte Sultry Sunset Eyeshadow Palette is a neutral line up coupled with a few purple tones for a little variety. You have two browns - one deep and slightly glittery and one light cool toned brown. Two light and bright golds, one copper all of which are metallic in formula. A matte pink and deep plum shadow and lastly a shimmery come glitter light pink toned purple. The shimmer shades are a little more pigmented than the mattes but in my opinion that is always the case. The glitter options aren't gritty in texture and don't look over the top when applied - they are fairly muted as far as glitter eyeshadows go.

The Tarte Sultry Sunset Eyeshadow Palette is my first experience with Tarte Eyeshadows so I didn't know what to expect. Having owned several of their blushes I did have a sneaky feeling that the quality would be top notch and truthfully I have not been let down. This could be because much like the blushes the eyeshadows are formulated using Amazonian Clay meaning they are an oily skinned gals dream. Not only are they beautifully pigmented with a soft, easy to blend texture but man oh man do they stay put. The matte shades are not at all chalky (the neutral brown hue is the perfect crease transition shade and can double as a contour depending on your skin tone), the shimmers pack a punch but yet are flattering even on more mature skin textures. I really can't fault the formula - teamed with a primer I can easily achieve 10 hours of wear which looks fresh until I remove it.

The shades may not appeal to everyone but if you like neutral based eyeshadow palettes I urge you to try this out - the formula makes my stash of Urban Decay Naked Palettes quake in fear!
