MAC Pink Freeze Eyeshadow Quad

I'm really trying to resist temptation and not purchase both of the new MAC pre-made neutral palettes given that they are £65 each and the last thing I need is more neutral eyeshadow but oh man are they pretty. Real pretty. It's only a matter of a time before I cave but until then let me share another MAC pre-made palette - MAC Pink Freeze which is slightly dinkier given it is a quad and a whole lot more affordable.

MAC launched a few pre-made quad's last year all of which are still available via the MAC UK web store, at £30 each they work out to be £16 cheaper than if you were to fill your own quad. It is a good saving and most of the quads if not all feature shades that you can not purchase individually. The downside of course is that you can't pick and choose the shades within the quad and that the eyeshadows can not be removed from the quad. That aside the packaging is identical to the MAC customisable quads - chic, sturdy and compact.

MAC Pink Freeze is not your typical pink based palette it contains one true pink shade combined with two somewhat neutral hues and a deep plum shadow thus making it a good all rounder. I'll level and say that I will never, ever use or wear the pink eyeshadow - some shades I simply can not pull off on my eyes and pink is one of them but the other three will get a lot of love! The pink in question is of course dubbed Pink Freeze which is a light, rather frosty pink which could be used a highlight. Next we have Bruised Plum which is a beautiful medley of both pink and plum tones that again is shimmer based and will look wonderful on green eyes. The one shade within the palette that I would love for MAC to make permanent is Deception, an old bronze hue that gleams slightly lavender in certain lights - for a neutral offering it is rather original. Lastly we have Magic Moor which is an almost matte deep plum with strong blue undertones that can appear almost black in some lights.

All of the shadows within the MAC Pink Freeze Eyeshadow Quad are well pigmented which can be improved upon if teamed with a primer or applied wet. They are well formulated so that there is next to no product fall out despite their slightly dry texture. In terms of wear I find that as with all MAC eyeshadows on my oily lids they stay put for around 5 hours before creasing but with a primer they stay firmly in place until I decide to remove them. Although not one for pink make up in general I really rate MAC's Pink Freeze Eyeshadow Quad and see it as the perfect beginners quad.
