The US have Maybelline The Buffs and here in the UK our answer is Maybelline Stripped Nudes, same concept just different names and maybe shades - I'm not all that sure. What you do need to know if you live in the UK is that five new nude hued Maybelline Colorsensational Lipsticks have hit most Maybelline counters and there is likely to be a shade for you!
The five shades are: Coffee Craze (740), Honey Beige (728) Naked Brown (757), Sultry Sand (710) and Tantalizing Taupe (727) - three of which I managed to purchase. What I like about this collection (although sold out nearly everywhere local to me) is that Maybelline have created a nude for most skin tones not just the fair to medium market. The packaging is similar to all Maybelline Colorsenational Lipsticks but this time around to find the Stripped Nude theme the caps are a dusky nude shade. In a sense it has a very Dior vibe.
The three shades which I managed to find are: Sultry Sand - a super light, slightly orange tinged nude which I can't honestly see suiting anyone. It is so light that once applied to the lips it gives the appearance of concealer, I would personally use it to tone down deeper lipsticks. Honey Beige is a light yet creamy pink brown shade that will suit most light to medium skin tones. It reminds me somewhat of MAC Hue. Lastly Coffee Craze which is a light golden bronze nude offering which leans fairly neutral. I must warn it is a difficult shade to wear due to it's strong yellow undertone.
The formula of the Maybelline Colorsensational Lipsticks (not just the stripped nudes) is nothing short of wonderful in my opinion.Each shade has a soft butter like texture that feels like liquid on the lips, is hydrating and offers full opaque coverage in one quick swipe. I didn't find that the Maybelline Colorsensational Lipsticks are prone to clinging to dry areas nor do they bleed or feather throughout the day but offered four hours of wear per application. For around £7 they are a great everyday purchase.
