"MAC Cosmetics is thrilled to announce the next Viva Glam spokesperson: Rihanna. Arriving January 2014. More information to come as MAC releases official details about the upcoming instalment of Viva Glam."
Ugh MAC how predictable!
Now I am one of the biggest MAC fans walking the earth but after the four recent Rihanna MAC collaborations do we really need another? In a word no!
I actually have nothing against Rihanna, sure she's a little okay a lot narcissistic but then again what celebrity isn't but recently I have found MAC Viva Glam to be a little stale and predictable.
First it was Lady Gaga's two year stunt, then it was Nicki Minaj's double whammy and then they wheeled out RuPaul again. Why not go with someone really unexpected?
I guess it all boils down to sales and with the recent MAC RiRi Hearts Collections flying off the shelves I guess we can't blame them. I just hope it is not another matte red lipstick or for the sake my sanity it isn't called MAC Viva Glam RiRi!
I also wasn't too surprised. I am not too happy with MAC's choices lately. Bobbi Brown has Katie Holmes, Dior has Natalie Portman... I feel like MAC should choose someone classier and clean up their reputation a little bit. I mean, Lady Gaga... Nicki Minaj... now Rihanna? Idk, I guess they're trying to keep it American/more mainstream, but I have not been impressed by MAC in years.
ReplyDeleteI agree... But you also have to think of why they are choosing them... It has to do with the crowd they are trying to bring in. Please check out my blog! It's missysbeautychat.blogspot.com! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteI can't agree more with this! However I liked their really small and brief collaboration with Hayley Williams, someone slightly more alternative, I did really like that collection!

I wasn't a fan of the any of the rhianna for mac, but people seem to love it so I guess they are just playing to what is selling x
ReplyDeleteRihanna is everywhere these days ... if it is not MAC it is River Island ... Boring!! Enough already ... I agree with you!!

Is it just me (and Rihanna's image) but that Mac lipstick in the photo looks pretty phallic to me.! Yes love her music (lyrics a bit sex mad) but she is going for and has achieved world domination up to the point that it's now annoyingly boring. I agree someone different and classier would be good.

You're so right!!! Very entertaining post might I add!
ReplyDeleteI am not a big riri fan but I do have to say that I really liked the riri woo lipstick they came out with. I guess we have to wait and see what they come up with next.

I totally agree with you!

When I saw this I was a tad surprised but that's only because of how much Rihanna has done with MAC lately! Her collaborations with MAC have probably sold so well that MAC reckon she'll help them earn some money for both themselves, as well as for their charity.
ReplyDeleteWhy can't we have a few rocker queens collaborate with MAC for a change? It's always pop related artists I find and it's a shame.
I'd certainly check out what Rihanna will have in store for us with Viva Glam, but going by her lipsticks with MAC recently, it's going to be red.

I agree, Rihanna needs to run along now (preferably in the opposite direction of MAC).
