Hourglass Ambient Lightening Palette

I hate to be that guy and use the age old make-up adage "if you purchase one thing this weekend let it be this" but once you see the swatches and are able to resist well my friend you are stronger woman than I!
Three beautiful pans of multi-purpose highlighters that feel as good as on the skin as they look no to mention there is an exclusive and limited edition shade...like I said strong I am not.

The packaging is nothing special truth be told but rather an elongated version of the original Hourglass Ambient Powders which I am not the biggest fan of - the contents yes, the style of packaging nope. This is mainly due to it being pretty flimsy, the chocolate brown metallic plastic which is very, very light and does worry me that it would crack/crumble on the first fall. As someone who spends a vast amount of their time navigating on and off public transport and battling up and down busy city streets it just doesn't seem ideal for general daily wear and tear. If you have tried any Kevin Aucoin powder products then you will understand what I mean. Other than that it is fairly pleasing to look at, a decent enough size and it does contain a well proportioned mirror which always comes in handy especially now the weather has took a turn for the worse. I should also mention that the Hourglass Ambient Lightening Palette comes complete with a mini vial primer which I have yet to test.

Okay now on to the good stuff the three powders contained within are utterly beautifully and worth every penny. The concept behind the Ambient Lighting Powder's is to create the most flattering light cast on the skin from moonlight to candlelight and all that's in-between there should be something for everyone's taste and skin colouring for that matter. Some of the shades within the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder range can be used as an all over pressed powder due to the soft focus, subtle glow aspect. To the touch the powders are somewhat firm but once brushed on the formula feels soft and weightless not to mention the powder some what melts on to the skin and doesn't have a typical powder finish. By that I mean the finish is more akin with a liquid highlighter but with the ease of a powder, they really are worlds apart from any highlighting powder I have used in the past.

The three shades within the Hourglass Ambient Lightening Palette are: Dim Light is a neutral peach beige shade that can be used as a setting powder on most light to medium skin tones to help blur imperfections. On deeper skin tones or depending on your taste this can be applied as a highlighter or as an eyeshadow. Incandescent Light is the limited edition and exclusive shade that is a very light almost warm ivory toned typical highlight offering. This won't blur imperfections as it does have a slight glittery cast but as the flecks are so tiny they won't draw attention to problems such as fine lines or enlarged pores. Rather it illuminates any area it is applied to and creates a lit within glow. It reminds me ever so slightly of MAC Soft and Gentle only more refined and is essentially a suit all offering. Last but not least we have Radiant Light which is a soft light and golden toned tan bronze which has been created to not only add warmth but also radiance to the skin. In my opinion this will be a bronzer on light to medium skin tones but of course only a highlighter on deep complexions. Much like Dim Light the shimmer within this shade is exceptionally minimal and could be a radiance boosting setting powder for certain skin tones as well as an eyeshadow.

Basically this is the highlighting palette of my dreams and I will be holding it closely to my heart.
Now excuse me while I drool over it a little longer...
