Topshop Velvet Finish Lipstick in Ohh La La

Believe it or not Ohh La La is my first proper Topshop lipstick, I have in the past dabbled with their lip crayons but never their lipstick line which is surprising given the amazing write up's they have had in the blog-o-sphere. I finally took the plunge around a fortnight ago and came home with the amazingly bright coral shade that is Ohh La La.

Okay, okay packaging isn't everything but I rather loathe the matte white plastic that the majority of Topshop make-up comes presented in. Why? Because it gets grubby like no other and unlike a black surface even after you wipe it down it still looks worse for wear as the white stains. Ugh! Other than that everything seems well enough made and I guess given the price point I can't complain too much.

At the moment on the Topshop website there is 18 shades of lipstick to choose from but I am sure there is a few more options in store as I also bought Pillow Talk and it is no-where to be seen on the site. Basically there is a huge colour range and at £8 (on par with Revlon, Bourjois et al) you are not going to feel to bad should you walk away with more than shade especially if you have a student discount card! My first choice was of course Ohh La La which is listed as a coral blush but is certainly more of an almost neon orange tinged coral. It reminds me a lot of Illamasqua's Over lipstick but not as chalk or as stark in finish for that matter.

Despite being hailed as a velvet finish lipstick I have found that Topshop's velvet formula is creamy, soft, light and very comfortable to wear. It glides on to the lips delivering full opaque coverage in one quite swipe without feeling waxy or clinging to any dry areas nor does it bleed or feather throughout the course of wear.
Speaking of wear each application (including eating and drinking) typically wore for around two hours which in my opinion is fairly average. Again despite the velvety claims this doesn't have a matte finish rather it provides a light glossy sheen that is not sticky in the slightest.

As far as high street make-up offerings go I truly do feel Topshop have hit the nail on the head with their lipstick line creamy, pigmented, a great range of shades at an affordable price. Let the collection of the lipstick line commence...
