MAC Rebel Lipstick

That's right ladies and gentlemen this normally nude lipstick fan teetered out of her comfort zone and purchased a deep and dare I say it sexy lipstick shade in the form of MAC's Rebel. Believe it or not I have had my eye on this vampy shade for quite some while now but never had the lady balls (real thing) to purchase it. God bless the Back 2 MAC (take back 6 empty MAC products and they give you a free lipstick of your choice) programme for giving me the little push and of course the free lipstick ha!

MAC list Rebel as a "mid-tonal plum" and I guess to some extend that is true but for most it will ring more of a deep yet bright almost magenta pink. Yes it has a cool undertone and in some lights it does look both red and berry toned but then in others it is very much like the grown up sister of MAC Girl About Town. A lot of it does come down to the natural hue of your lips and to some extent your skin tone so if you are interested in this shade I don't truly believe online swatches (I've included them none the less) to be all that helpful, instead swatch it in-store for more of a feel of the shade.

Rebel is a satin formula which in the past I have deemed to be the most drying of all the MAC formulations (matte shades aside), however Rebel glides on the lips with ease and has a creamy texture with a slight sheen. Despite the creamy texture this has little slip but I would still pair it with a liner for piece of mind. What I really like about this shade is that once the creamy texture has worn off be it from drinking, eating or just general wear (around two hours in my experience) this fades to the most beautiful berry shade. If you are on the look out for a Autumnal shade with a little impact I think this may well be the shade for you.
