Facial Oils for Oily Skin

For years and I mean years I avoided any oil based product I just couldn't comprehend why you would want to put an oily substance on already oily skin. It made no sense to me but sometimes it is best to ignore logic and just go with the flow because since discovering face oils my oily skin has never been better. With that in mind I thought I'd share my top oily picks for oily skin types. I apologise that they are all somewhat pricey but so far I haven't found anything on the high street that works its magic on a budget...yet I will keep the search alive.

Facial Oils for Oily Skin

Anyone with dehydrated skin may confuse it with being regular oily skin when really it is just that the skin is so depleted of moisture that it is producing excess sebum to hydrate the skin. Once you restore the balance the excess oil will subside. Basically dehydrated skin in my experience (I'm no expert and I guess everyone's symptoms could well be different) is dry to the touch yet oily at the same time. As I mention repeatedly I do have oily skin but I have found Clarins Blue Orchid Face Treatment Oil to work wonders for my skin it is constructed from 100% pure plant extracts which includes Rosewood (antibacterial, soothing as well as promoting elasticity), Patchouli (Anti-inflammatory, strengthens and enlivens skin cells) as well as the addition of Blue Orchid to tone the skin in a firmness sense, revitalise and restore radiance to moisture-depleted skin. The ingredient line up also includes Hazelnut Oil to help prevent moisture loss and the formation of fine lines. More importantly Clarins Blue Orchid Oil works, this light oil hydrates, soothes and calms my skin with being excessively hydrating and oddly making my pores seem less noticeable.

If that doesn't quit suit your oily skins needs but you do like the sound of it then I can also give the thumbs up to Clarins Lotus Face Treatment Oil much like above this is a facial oil constructed of 100% pure plant extracts. As oily skin can also be blemish prone this is the perfect alternative to a moisturiser as Clarins Lotus Face Treatment Oil is a natural astringent so it helps banish blemishes in their tracks and again hydrates, soothes and calms the skin with next to no effort. Sadly this doesn't have quite the same pore busting properties as the oil above but it is a hidden, natural gem that won't only help clear blemishes but balance oily skin too. It is worth mentioning that this is one of my most re-purchased products (hello new bottle) and this is the one oil I will slap on my sisters, friends et all when the start complaining about breakouts.

Facial Oils for Oily Skin

My next two oil choices are suitable for all skin types. First up we have Nude ProGenius Treatment Oil contains Omega 3, 6, 7 and 9 oils. Most will recognise Omega 3 from oily fish but a little further search shows that this addition is actually a wonderful anti-inflammatory. Omega 6 is more commonly food in nuts and seeds and when found in skincare it can help the skin to regenerate and repair. Omega 7 which can be found in macadamia nuts and cold-water fish is a skin care wonder supplement which helps boost collagen and can help to protect the skin against environmental damage. Lastly we have Omega 9 apparently the human body naturally produces this and it is a really fatty acid that can help the skin to glow and look more plump This deeply moisturising and nourishing oil hydrates the skin in mere seconds without being heavy or in my case overwhelming. Nude ProGenius Treatment Oil will leave your skin feeling soft, rejuvenated, glowing and refreshed in one quick step. Now back to my oily skin, I have since switched to using this oil on its own rather than combining with a night cream and have noticed that in the space of a month my skin is far less oily.

Facial Oils for Oily Skin

The newest kid on the block is Origins Plantscription Youth Renewing Face Oil which is currently exclusive to Harrods. This is one of the few oils I possess that I find light enough for am use, sometimes facial oils in my experience can take a little longer to absorb and not really bode well with make-up but this is so light weight that it absorbs within seconds and does not interfere with anything applied on top. The Youth Renewing Face Oil used before a serum and/or under a moisturiser depending what your skin requires to help trap all it's skin improving properties in. This light oil is different in that it helps replenish the epidermal lipids, these protect the skin’s natural moisture barrier to keep hydration in yet prevent blemish provoking impurities out which again skin naturally looses with age. This oil is packed with plant extracts "Fortified with 20 precious oils from around the world including raspberry seed oil, argan oil, tamanu oil and evening primrose, this oil helps smooth away fine, dry lines" as well as coconut and rosehip oils all of which help to smooth out fine lines and renew the skin all the while leaving it super soft and supple - an all in all winner and suit all oil!
