Isn't it nice to see an "Indie" cosmetic brand break the mould by remaining very much true to its roots but making its stamp on the main stream cosmetic world. No brand is doing that quite as well as Sugarpill and although I'm not one for bright colours (hence why I seldom blog about such brand) the new collection does feature a good few deep shades perfect for an all out smoky eye!
I love the Sugarpill solo pressed eyeshadow packaging yes it is plastic but it compact without being overly small and you can see a lot of thought went into both the casing and outer box with funky motifs. It is young but not tacky, well priced yet not cheap and all in all a sturdy little compact. Yes it does remind me a little of MUA's eyeshadows in terms of presentation but this is far more robust and dare I say it easier on the eye.
Sugarpill's Cold Chemistry collection is a collaboration between Sugarpill (of course) and Amelia Arsenic, designer of cult fashion and art brand A is for Arsenic London - which features one eye palette and four solo eyeshadows all of which are deep, dark and glamorous. I have a solo eyeshadow in Soots & Stars which is listed as a "metallic gunmetal with prismatic sparkle". How fabulous! To elaborate a little further Soots & Stars is rich, cool toned, deep metallic grey which does have a slight blue leaning and scattering of tiny flecks of blue/silver glitter. Words do not do this shade justice, it is like an amped up version of MAC Knight Divine.
As you can imagine as a brand with a firm "Indie" ethos all products within the range are intensely pigmented and this is no exception. A smooth, velvety soft eyeshadow that packs more than a punch when it comes to colour delivery with next to no fall out which is rare for a softer textured pressed powder product. Despite being so pigmented you can easily blend this out to a softer finish should you wish and of course wet it to form a make shift liner or to increase the metallic finish. I honestly can not fault the formula in the slightest and in terms of wear in delivers to with it staying put up to 10 hours with a primer and just shy of 8 hours without on my oily lids. I know that neutrals is not at all what Sugarpill is all about but should they ever change their mind I will be first in line to snatch them up!
