I went to Florida with one thing on my mind - buy ALL the American beauty products.
Okay not quite but the weight of my suitcase returning home would suggest that I went over board and who am I to disagree. One product I wish I bought a back up of is the ever blogged about is the Queen Helene Mint Julep Face Mask. Let me be the one to say believe all the hype!

Basically the Mint Julep Face Mask by Queen Helene both smells and looks like toothpaste and I guess to some degree it does behave similar, the ol' dab a blob of toothpaste on a blemish to dry it up routine.
However unlike toothpaste this thick green tinted minty mask is in no way sticky and it actually works - I never had any luck with toothpaste!

A few days ago I had an allergic reaction to a primer (post to follow soon) and my entire face broke out in millions and I mean millions of tiny white heads. I can truly say it was the worst reaction and state my skin has ever been in and I did what every gal would do in the same situation...panicked! However I did recall many a bath spent in the hotel with this gooey minty substance on my face and how it dried up the odd spot and put it straight to work. I kid you not after 15 minutes with this mask on my face the redness from the rash was all but gone - yes the white heads remained (eww) but it looked promising.

I went to bed later that evening with nothing but a little eye cream on my face and prayed for a miracle. The next morning I awoke to bumpy but dry skin with the white heads gone. Still a little spotty yes but no where as bad as the evening before. I repeated this process for the next three nights and guess what my skin is almost crystal clear - by that I mean I have a few unavoidable hormone blemishes but all traces of the rash have disappeared. The packaging of Queen Helene Mint Julep Face Mask does claim to reduce and clear blocked pores, so far I can't say that is true but nothing in my experience clears skin up quite like it and for that reason alone I will not be without it again. A word of warning is that this mask does dry up the skin - nothing a good night cream or hydrating face mask can't solve but naturally drier skin types may want to avoid. I should also mention that it isn't paraben free (neither is a lot of skin care products) but it is cruelty free.

Summed up the best blemish come rash solving remedy to date!

Random Fact - The early Romans believed eating mint would increase intelligence. The scent of mint was supposed to stop a person from losing his temper and royal ambassadors carried mint sprigs in their pockets. It was also used to sweeten the often rank smell of medieval halls.
